The Post Office is a governmental entity. As long as they have Christian stamps they have to carry stamps of other faiths as well, otherwise they would be in violation of the First Amendment.

Does anyone want them to discontinue Christian stamps? I know I don't.

I do find the unveiling date in poor taste considering what just happened though.

Don't care. I bought two books of stamps about two years ago for something and still have a book and three quarters of one left. I won't be buying any for a long long long time. We pay all our bills online. In fact, when DH was filling out paperwork to go back to work he needed a voided check for direct deposit. First we had to locate the checkbook and then we found out we were out of checks. I had used the last one in January of last year. We ordered more.

MIXTURE
WHAT'S TRUE: A U.S. postage stamp commemorates the Islamic holidays of Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha.

WHAT'S FALSE: President Obama didn't direct the issuance of the above-referenced stamp.


I just thought I would post this before y'all start blaming Obama. :)

They have had Islamic stamps for years. Some Americans are Muslim. They do Christian stamps and Jewish stamps and all sorts of stamps.

It would have been more appropriate to unveil a rainbow stamp rather than an Islamic stamp at this time.
