ST, let me guess, the fight between your mother and the sister is about mom wanting your sis to be at her beck and call?
You should not feel any angst over not driving that long distance to bring your mom to what is no more than a doctor app't. As I said before, that would be ridiculous.

Ok, I understand. But just so everyone knows, I do take her to doctor's appointments. Lots of them, even though they are all far away from me. I just didn't want to do this one because of the previous plans.
And that's fine if that's what you choose to do.
I don't think any less of you.
And you shouldn't feel guilty.
No one knows your situation and your family better than you.

I think that was part of what the fight was about, plus some other things they disagree on. The two of them really shouldn't be living together.
Is Mom injured or sick or disabled in any way? It doesn't sound like it.
Is Mom immobile? Doesn't sound like it.
Is Mom on her way to dementia and might not remember her way home? Doesn't sound like it.
No, she wouldn't forget her way home and she's not disabled. She just doesn't like taxis. But it's a 5 minute ride.
I agree that 75 years old is too young to play the "old" card. Now if she was in her late 80s, it might be different. I never agreed with the idea that age alone gives you the right to use people or mistreat them. I think that people should be considerate of others unless their mind is so far gone with dementia that they just can't think straight anymore.

Absolutely.
Would she have ever done anything similar for one of her children? Just curious...
Hey sweet tooth, I need to go to the hospital this morning. Would you drive me?

Are you farther away than ME?
And GOOD LUCK on your tests!

I actually did think of you! The lady was walking me out and she literally asked me, "Did you come alone or did someone drive you here today?" I nearly burst out laughing. But I didn't want to get sent to the loony bin floor!

I'm sorry to say this sweet tooth, but your mom is being a bonch.
She needs to make up with her roommate or take a cab.
I hope you enjoy your day with your (immediate) family without guilty feelings.
Your mom is old enough to figure this out for herself.
Hey sweet tooth, I have an appointment coming up. I'll be expecting you to be here at 12:30. Shouldn't be an imposition since it's your lunch break anyway! :)
