Obama himself may just do the trick for us...

I have a friend who is a devoted Dem and voting for Trump. I almost shot myself in the head when I listened to his reasoning. Talk about LIV.

You all keep saying that but that's why so many will vote for Trump. We're SICK of the PC bullschit. Even the Repos aren't getting this. They'll be just as surprised if Trump wins because they aren't getting it.

My friend is black. And not poor black. In the 15 years I've known him he's risen through the company he works for and makes good money. His wife works at a bank. A few years ago he and his wife bought a beautiful five bedroom four bath house in a very nice neighborhood. So this isn't a welfare person. Anyway, we talked the other day and he said that he voted for Obama twice (I knew that.) and he was voting for Trump because he feels like Trump is the next Obama. He says Trump is going to look out for his people like Obama has. He said Trump is a Dem through and through and he's proud to vote only Dem. I pointed out Trump was running on the Repub ticket and he promptly told me that all Repubs are racists. I asked him to explain and he said they don't ever try to get anyone but an old white guy in office. (Which is kind of funny because that is what Trump is.) I asked him about Ben Carson. Did he not realize that there was a black man running? He told me that he wouldn't vote for some guy from the ghetto. I told him that Ben Carson was a world renowned brain surgeon. He promptly told me all that was made up to push him through to be president. Propaganda by the media. I then asked him about Ted Cruz. He said he is so glad that Cruz is gone. Especially since his father killed Kennedy.

Democrat Hillary Clinton has opened up a double-digit lead nationally over Republican Donald Trump, whose negatives remain unusually high for a presidential candidate amid early indications that the Orlando terrorist attack has had little direct impact on the 2016 race.
A new Bloomberg Politics national poll shows Clinton leading Trump 49 percent to 37 percent among likely voters in November’s election, with 55 percent of those polled saying they could never vote for the real estate developer and TV personality.

He's only dumb in politics. The rest of the time he's brilliant. Hard worker. Busts his tail for the company. Takes on extra work. Not lazy. Very smart man. They actually brought him in to teach others. Not all the time, but occasionally he runs a class.

Believe it or not. I have no reason to lie. I TOLD him to go do some research on Ben Carson. I told him as a black man he should be proud of what Ben Carson has done. He sees Trump as the great almighty. He voted for Obama twice. That says a lot. And I wouldn't drop a really great friend just because we disagree on this one election. We have a 15 year friendship. It's worth more than an election.

I wouldn't drop a friend because of the election either. I would drop him because he is the stupidest person in the country...and willfully so.
I don't deal well with stupid people, no matter how nice they are...

Ok not sure why this friend being black was an important point to the story. The guy is an idiot if what you say is true, an idiot that perhaps is a conspiracy theorist. I wouldn't take a word he says as truth.

He voted for Obama because he's black. I also said in the beginning he votes Dem because he feels that Repubs are racist.

LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL That is such an oxymoron! The guy gets more stupid by the moment.
Thus my pointing out he's black and his reasoning is entirely flawed.

It does say a lot. And it's not helping your case about how smart he is. Sorry.
A person can be forgiven for voting for Obama the first time. He was an unknown, and the other option was McCain/Palin.
No one can be forgiven for voting for Obama the second term. He was known to be bad for the country and the other option was Romney/Ryan (maybe not perfect, but not even close to as bad of a choice as McCain/Palin was previously).

All I can say is he is a great guy if you don't talk about politics. And one can be smart in one area of their life and dumb as a box of rocks in another. I do know people like that. He's a great husband, father, and grandfather. My kids love him. He worked himself very hard to get out of difficult circumstances and become really successful. That's why I often don't understand how he thinks politically. Maybe I just don't explain it well enough here or maybe people just want to be hateful and call him names but he truly is a wonderful person. Politics aside.

Yup!
And, frankly, it's often hard to describe a person you know in just a paragraph. Humans are complex creatures.
I didn't mean to imply he wasn't smart. I simply said saying "he voted for Obama twice" doesn't help your case, because that's not a smart thing to have done.

And yet her "friend" - you know the black guy that is not poor, and one she feels the need to qualify as being "normal" because he's black (WTF???), has no issue calling all sorts of other people names. I'm getting that directly out of her description of him.
Yep - he sounds like a gem.

I think some people are program from childhood to vote a certain way. I've known people who are Christian, conservative, and pro life vote for Democrats because they were raised to be democrates.

I find that sad.
I raised my sons to be able to think for themselves.
You might do your friend a bit of justice if you could perhaps educate him on how his views are racist and totally contradictory. Then again, some friendships might not survive hard truths. It was conversations such as that that lead to the death of a 35 year friendship for my husband so it certainly isnt something to be taken lightly.
I think some people are program from childhood to vote a certain way. I've known people who are Christian, conservative, and pro life vote for Democrats because they were raised to be democrates.
I can see how that could happen more often than not. In my case it wasnt. My dad is a gun toting conservative R and always has been, yet for many years I was very liberal in my thinking. I wanted guns to be taken away, and government to help us in all we wanted to do. My husband was socialist for many years. After some very respectful conversations with conservative friends, we both came to our senses and realized man does better when Mr. Gov is kept under lock and key, and capitalism is allowed to flourish without overburdensome regulations.
