1) The gun the Orlando shooter used was a Sig Sauer MCX, not an AR-15. They are a brand new platform developed with the last year and half. They are definitely not full-auto rifles (pre-86 ban and all). ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
thank you--the article is full of nonsense from the weapon used to the capability of an AR-15 or its variants
Phoenix, Arizona based Tactical Fire Control Inc., can turn your basic AR into a (nearly) full-auto rifle with no need for the onerous NFA licensing process. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
apple do you know anything at all about class II weapons ? have you ever held one? fired one? cleaned one? used one? all your copy and paste nonsense makes you look like an adolescent and would personally not want to be around you at all when you're handling weapons--even your basic knowledge of their function/use is suspect
Perfect because I would not want to be around you either.
I still want to know how apples knows exactly what her neighbors do and don't own.
I know my neighbours, I know who is a hunter and who is not. We also socialize quite a bit.
Perhaps it is "foreign" to you?
I highly doubt your neighbors tell you everything. Even my closest friends don't know exactly how many guns I own. It's just not a topic of discussion.

Oh, ok. Wow - you are special. You know exactly what your neighbors own and claim they tell you everything.
LOL. You live in a special world.
You seem to be spoiling for a fight this morning.
I know my neighbors pretty well. People here don't normally own guns unless they hunt. It has come up in discussion over the last 15 years that I have lived here. I'm not sure why that bothers you so much....
And what bothers me is your claim to KNOW everything. Bull.
I didn't say I know everything, the topic of guns, gun safes and other countries gun laws has come up on occasion. They have no reason to hide anything from me, I own guns and yup...they know it.
Because they know your feeling about guns? Because some guns are illegal to own in Canada so they aren't going to tell people they own them? Because they don't think it's any of your business?

You said your neighbors don't have guns - in all caps even. I asked you how you know that and you ignored me.

Wow, y'all live in such safe neighborhoods and leave your doors open, why do you need guns?
There isn't a person on this block that doesn't have at least 3 guns.
Why are our neighborhoods so safe?
Because we all take care of our neighbors and point our when something bad is being done.
And because it's our RIGHT.
We all do the same here, I've left my doors unlocked and open more times than I can count, same with my mother...most times I go to visit her I find her keys hanging out the door.
I know all my neighbors and enjoy a safe neighborhood.
Point being, we have safety here and a fraction of the guns you have. So why is it that myself and my neighbors don't have their housed broken into daily...THEY DON'T HAVE GUNS...sup with that?
*Anyone that I know who owns a gun also has a gun safe. Their guns are for hunting, same with me.

How do you know that? You said you have guns, why wouldn't they?

I have a Browning bolt action rifle (special edition) as well as a couple shotguns, they were handed down to me. Oh and also a .22 rifle.
My daughter had a pink camo rifle, she also has her hunting and fire arms license.
What guns do you have Lily?
3 30.6, 12 gage pump, a double barrel, a .22 rifles.
A 9mm, a .38 snub nose, a .45 and flare gun.
That's what we have.
Unless dad has bought something I don't know about. Which is completely possible.
And yes, we all know how to use them.

Do you take gun safety courses at all?
Do you lock up your guns when they are not being used for hunting?
Sure. What my parents didn't teach me, my grandparents did.
Some are in cases, some are proper up in the back corner of the closet.
Some are in drawers.
No. None are loaded.
Actually, my brother's hunting rifle and bow were in the top of my daughter's closet, in case, since he moved out. It was his room, he left it while at college, it stayed there until a year or two ago.
Imagine that.
She grew up in a room with a rifle in the closet.
And it never did anything but lay in its case.

One of the ways criminals get guns is by people robbing houses where people leave guns laying around.
One of the ways young children get killed or worse yet, kill another child is because people leave guns laying around.
One of the ways people have their own guns used against them in a robbery, is because they left guns laying around.
All I am saying is that TO ME it isn't being a responsible gun owner. That is just the way I have been taught.
You think a gun not on lock down is laying in the middle of the floor, loaded?
That's just silly.
Just because it isn't locked up doesn't mean it is easily accessible.

another telling statement on your knowledge of / ability to use a weapon
if you can't access them when you need them, and then use them properly, you might as well not have them

I have been trained I have taken courses and I have been shooting for years.
I realize that doesn't suit your rhetoric but its true.
I don't feel the need to sleep with a loaded gun next to me. That would be stupid, IMO but you go right ahead.
I only know of one person to ever have an incident with a gun.
He was hunting, in his tree stand. He took aim at a buck and the tree stand broke.
His gun went off when it hit the ground.
He was being watched over cause he only had a flesh wound.
He walked out of the woods and drove himself to his family doctor.

You know - if people want to take away the rights of the law-abiding to own guns b/c of a bunch of criminals, can we first deport all the illegal aliens because of the ones here who have committed crimes and murdered people?
I mean, if you are going to punish others for the actions of a few, let's start with the illegal faction, first.

we don't keep weapons in plain sight but the ones we're apt to use for personal defense are loaded ( not with a round chambered but with the clip/magazine full) and close at hand--we have a couple of winchester defender 12ga loaded with #4s ( not 00 ) for using indoors--all that's needed is to pick one up and rack a round (that distinctive sound)--we're proficient with every firearm we own and have been for a long time
when you need one you need it right then

This is just anecdotal, but I have heard from friends that have shotguns and have had prowlers break in while they were home that the quickest way to empty your home of criminals is the distinct "chick-chick" sound of a shotgun chambering a round. If the home is quiet it can be heard several rooms away.
btw, if anyone's looking for a hunting rifle designed specifically for women, check out the Savage 11 / LadyHunter--built/crafted for women's longer necks, smaller hands and shorter arms--the reviews have been exceptional
am going to get one for my lady in 7mm-08--an extremely accurate, hard-hitting weapon good out to 400yds or so and potent enough for all but the biggest bears on this continent--comfortable to shoot without all the recoil and muzzle blast of the magnums
