While I love a well crafted gun, I don't believe a gun should look like a toy, either.

   I agree.  When i bought my gun, they wanted to show me those pink and purple guns.  No, i want a gun that looks like a gun.  I think some of those kinds of guns are fine for gun collectors.  But, for carrying a weapon, i think it better look like a gun.
