Right? And they know our alarm code too....

Why pay for an alarm system?

flan

Lower insurance rates. Its a break in alarm, smoke alarm, CO2 alarm, and weather alarm.

 Oh, okay, that makes sense!

flan

Not to mention that we HAD to have it to ensure Gs guitars. They wouldn't insure us otherwise...:(

Effin insurance companies.

They rule the world....

I think having relationships with neighbors makes a difference.

I went to school with the kids that grew up on this block.

My mom drove the school bus through this neighborhood.

I was 20 when we moved in but I was friends with most the families.

Then the house to the right was sold to the parents of a guy friend I met my freshman year.

We all watch each other's kids.

And our kids have grown up together.

Community makes a difference.

 Of course it does.

When DH1 was killed, my neighbors all knew what had happened & helped out. We used to have cookouts in the court. Our next-door neighbors went to Kauai with us 4 years ago.

But, people move. Kids grow up.

flan

 Maybe people who rent.

But the homes in this neighborhood are "passed down".

There isn't a person on this block that doesn't have at least 3 guns.

Why are our neighborhoods so safe?

Because we all take care of our neighbors and point our when something bad is being done.

And because it's our RIGHT.

Our neighborhoods are so safe BECAUSE we have guns. Crime here is minimal because people are afraid of getting shot...

We all do the same here, I've left my doors unlocked and open more times than I can count, same with my mother...most times I go to visit her I find her keys hanging out the door.

I know all my neighbors and enjoy a safe neighborhood.

Point being, we have safety here and a fraction of the guns you have.  So why is it that myself and my neighbors don't have their housed broken into daily...THEY DON'T HAVE GUNS...sup with that?confuse

*Anyone that I know who owns a gun also has a gun safe. Their guns are for hunting, same with me.

You've said you have guns so why do you think others shouldn't  have guns? You may have a gun for hunting but what about those who are in urban areas or don't hunt? Are they somehow less deserving of guns because they live in a city? I live in a slightly more rural area. Lot's of hunters but also not very many criminal. I don't hunt but I do own a handgun as well as my husbands shotgun which is locked in the gun closet (I have a CCP [concealed carry permit] so my gun is in a hidden purse holster. I do go out to the city to dance now and then so I guess I'll save you if you won't save yourself.

Apple.

You live in country with way more government control over its citizens private lives. And it shows.

It is a RIGHT to have guns here.

How do you know that?  You said you have guns, why wouldn't they?

And just because you have a hunting rifle doesn't mean you can't use it for other things.

I bet if you needed it, you would use it.

I live in a city with 3 million people.

We just don't have the same gun culture as you, that is the difference.

You are correct.  Criminals here don't give a crap about gun laws.  It's rare that a legal gun owner is involved in a shooting.  99% of the time, it's the illegal gun holders that are the problem...

And taking away the rights of the non-criminals are not going to stop the criminals...

He said she lived in a rural country not that she lived in a rural town and yes we know that apple lives in a much better place than the rest of us because she keeps telling us so.

I never said that. If you inferred that because we have less gun violence, shootings and assaults. ( per capita) Well so be it.

Even rural COUNTRIES have URBAN AREAS.

Does burns need you to defend him?

Neither I or burns said they didn't have URBAN AREAS. You misquoted him so I was pointing that out and I'll defend whoever the heck I want to. You acting like you don't defend others when they're not here to defend themselves and even sometimes when they are here to defend themselves is a freaking joke.

Your attitude is quite clear that you think Canada is better than the US.  I don't agree but that's the thing about opinions...

I think it is a great thing to be proud of the country you live in, as you are and I am.

flan is not very proud of her country. I'm pretty sure she thinks Canada is better too.

Nope but she has also made her opinion clear on how she feels about the US.

If I hated America, I would leave.

I am proud that I live in a country that allows me to speak my mind.

Imho, being a responsible citizen means working toward the change that is required to make a country better.

Anyone who has ever worked with the public knows that people are MUCH likelier to complain rather than compliment.
