 How touristy has it become?

Last time I was there Jesse was a baby. Literally. Like maybe 6 months.

Our vacation this year is going to Lake McConaughy in Nebraska for the meteor showers Aug 11 - 14th. We will be camping at the Sandy Beach exit in case anyone wants to join us. So far we have about 12 people in our group going. :D

(SO EXCITED!)

Camping is when the hotel doesn't have room service. It's awful. 😉

I loved camping when I was younger.

Gosh, it was so freeing.

We had a pop up camper. Nothing fancy.

But we were always taking off on weekends.

We'd leave as soon as school got out and stay gone till late on Sundays.

Fishing, biking, hiking, boating, swimming. We did it all and then some.

Matter of fact, got my first real kiss while camping.

Met a guy two sites over.

We may have 13.

He kissed me by the lake while night fishing.

James.

Never saw him again.

SO really wants to take his son to Disneyland:California Adventures this summer but I straight up told him I can't afford it. So either he will pay for me or they'll have a boys trip.

I want to take another cruise, but maybe next summer

I would love to take an Alaskan cruise.

One of my best friends has gone on several Caribbean cruises, but I think I would feel like a sardine. I know that's not logical. I would suck it up if it meant seeing Alaska, though.

We are looking at cruises. Some of the cabins are 165 square feet. Ummm.....NO. We will have to spring for a bigger cabin.

Yep.  165 square feet supposedly sleeps 4.  How, I ask you?  How?

My first cruise was with two of my friends and we had one of those tiny cabins below deck. There was a regular bed with bunk beds next to it. It was horrible. When cruising with DH, we definitely sprung for the larger room with a huge window. We always say next time we'll get one with a balcony.

I want a little retro trailer. I could camp in that - at a campsite that has toilets and showers.

We stayed in a mini suite. It was 300 something square feet but it included the balcony. It was still pretty tight but I'd recommend spending the extra money for a little more room. Maybe even a family suite.

I always wanted to go snorkeling.

It may be the one thing I could do if I can get in and out of the water.

My brother, who is a retired Marine Col, takes 2 weeks a year to go to Florida.  He brings amputee vets out SCUBA diving.  He does a lot of "fund' raising.  He finds people willing to donate their yachts or lease them cheap to bring a few vets with their families out for about a week.  They get food for the trip donated.  The entity is an extension of some of the Vet private charities.  Once he took a full amputee out diving and the guy was so happy, in the water it is all about gravity, weightlessness, and controlling your BCD to allow you to go up or down.  You can control the BCD with your mouth.  So the guy could move around under his own control.

That sounds awesome!

But how do you get them in and out of the water?

I know I would not be able to get myself out of the water and back on the boat.

Getting in would be as simple as leaning over the ledge.

That is wonderful.  My brother participates in one that is somehow related to Walter Reid that takes them out deer hunting.  Winchester donates the shot guns & another company donates or gives use of the ATVs.

The Florida trip sounds like a lot more fun smile

That is such a nice thing to do!

Good for your brothers, for doing that for the vets.

Take a cruise - you can do the diving as an excursion.

We're going on a cruise but it will be with the kiddos.

I'm a bit on the fence about a cruise.  I would love to go stay in one of those huts over the water that Lily has posted.  It might be what I do next.  Any takers?  we could snorkle/dive right off our docks.

Unfortunately my position requires me to work the last day of the month (and year) to close the books and do inventory. So unless my areas of responsibility drastically change in the next few months, I won't be taking the New Years cruise.

We are banned from taking time off in September. End of fiscal year and all. Even though my contracts aren't affected, I am still banned. The last two years, the boys were injured, requiring I take time off. First year it was a concussion. Last year, broken arm. I'm hoping there won't be anything this year.

We decided to drive just a few hours on Sunday the 10th and are staying outside Nashville. We'll get up Monday morning and go visit Antique Archaeology in Nashville. Then we'll just mosey on up 65 that day, stopping where we feel like it. The kids want to go to Dino World in Cave City.

I'm not really much of a traveler. If it's vacation time at work, I'd rather just putter around the house fixing things that need fixing, doing things that need doing, or building things that need building - but would take more than a Saturday to do.

I want to go to AA so bad!

I'd probably fangirl hard if Mike, Frank or Danielle happened to be there.
