We have a big fireworks celebration in our neighborhood. Every family buys a ton of fireworks and the dads and kids set them all off. I sit on the porch with a cool drank and watch...it usually takes about 3-4 hours to get through all of them. This year, they will be doing it on Sunday and Monday night. The clean-up is well worth the entertainment...

I love the neighborhood fireworks except the dog does not. I have to be every night this w/e with him because of the fireworks. I still am trying to think of something fun to do with DD saturday. Sunday I will probably hang at a friend's house who has a pool but be home at night for the dog.

An old truck you use for yard and household stuff that you don't care is beat up.
OMG I have always wanted one of those!
That's a beater truck?

Our old "beater truck" was a 76 ford pick up. It was 4 different colors, the cab was brown, the bed was white with a red stripe and the whole thing had touches of rust.
I loved driving that truck.
Now we have an 80 mazda. The bed is off of it right now.

It's a good picture hiding the dent in the front bumper. There are lots of dings and scratches.
But, yes, it was well loved and taken care of. Only one owner. It does, however, have a few beater issues - the seats have to be held back with bungee cords and the air conditioner needs fixing.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.
My beater truck has parts held on by zip ties. The tail gate doesn't latch unless you close it just right. I have to sit on a pillow because the seat is kind of broken. It never starts the first turn of the key. The AC doesn't work. It has crank Windows and manual locks. But man do I love that truck.
and I swear it looks like it's going to fall apart. But it runs like a dream and can haul like no other. I'm convinced it's indestructible because I drive it with reckless abandon it just keeps going.

That's nicer than my first car.

This was nicely said. Sounds like a description from a novel.
