I'm with Lily& want to know who is paying for the surgery & ongoing hormone treatment. What I really specifically want to know is, are WE paying for this?
I do have self control which is why I haven't been banned flannie.
Because I haven't complained to a Mod yet.
flan
Go ahead and complain. I have to actually do something bannable to get banned. Not just because you don't like me and can't handle my superior wit...lol

dont you sometimes wish you could time travel into the future by 15 years and record an interview with some of these people, and then go back and show them what their future selves say?
No kidding.
I'm forever telling my kids that in 10 years they won't believe the difference in themselves.

How is she getting ANY medical treatments without the mother's permission?

This mak s me sick. The show I am Jazz makes me sick. The kid is 14 and the mother is all on the bandwagon with surgeries and dangerous hormone treatments. On a Minor. That kid should be taken away from the parents.
In this case wonder if the mother could try and get guardianship? Maybe not but worth a shot.
I found the show I am Jazz, to be quite enlightening.
This child was acting as a girl from day one, it was heartbreaking for the parents and they went through, and still do go through, a lot of stress and mental anguish over this.
No, it's really kinda sick. "She's" all upset because boys don't want to date 'her". Yeah, honey, you are a dude...
He/She can get the surgeries and hormones when he is an adult. What they're doing is child abuse IMO.

1. It is your BEHAVIOR that I object to.
2. Nope.
flan
1. I object to YOUR behavior as well but I still don't see how you complaining to a mod would get me banned unless I did something bannable.
2. Yep.

Its too late by then. Gosh, do you people know ANYTHING about this?

The daughter is an adult., technically.
I don't know what the mother would have to do to have her daughter considered a child forever in the eyes of the law.
She would have to have her declared incompetent.
If she is that severe, she has the documentation.
But it still doesn't answer all the questions.
And it doesn't change the fact that it will not help this girl, in the least.

So if she thought she was a unicorn and wanted to have a horn surgically implanted we should go along because she's technically an adult and should get to choose? Because that's what my nine year old niece would love to be but luckily she's not technically an adult.

I'm sure it's different by state but in my experience it wasn't that difficult to get guardianship of my parents. They didn't even have to appear before the judge. They had dementia which I know is different but still.
I'm really surprised the mother doesn't have guardianship.
If she gets the surgery I would probably release the doctors name to every newspaper and photos of him as well. It's disgusting
And how is another example of technology being a blessing and a curse. Many years ago if someone had a gender identity issue and surgery wasn't even an option, they seemed to deal with it.
To many choices out there now IMO

It's not a perfect analogy, but certain elements ARE the same. If something makes you uncomfortable, just sweep it under the rust & pretend it doesn't exist.

I figured that was a rhetorical question because we all know who is paying. You and I!

Oh, BS. Spotlight was about priests hurting others. This is about mental illness that the left wants to make normal.

When DD was 4, she crawled around pretending to be a cat to the point of licking me, when she was 5 she was a princess, dressed a lot like a princess, made her change her clothes when we went out. At 6 she was a dog, going as far as staying in the dog crate, at 7 she grew out of the animal thing and moved on chemistry experiments, I hid all the dangerous cleaners/chemicals, at 8 she became obsessed with video games, I limited those, she became a reader of books. You can see where this post is going. To allow a child, a minor at that, with a mental capacity of a 9 YO to make such a life changing decision is beyond irresponsible, it should be criminal.

My former MIL allowed her tween son (my ex) to spend copious amounts of time with his boss, who was a convicted pedophile. Time included trips to Catalina Island on his boat. She told me, "I let him make his own decisions." I thought that was horrible.

I don't even know where to start.
Tell me, do Conservatives threaten their kids with "the Left" instead of the boogeyman?

Don't have to. They learn early...

Going through the transgender process isn't something that happens quickly.
There is a long process of mental and medical screenings and preparations before the actual treatments begin.
And once the treatments start, they can't just be stopped without physical withdrawals.
The hormone imbalance that is caused by stopping the treatment can become downright life threatening.
I wonder if this girl would be considered a reliable witness in a court of law. If not, how can she be a reliable representative for herself?
There is so much wrong with this.
Forget the transgender thing and just think about the things this girl is going to have to endure.
She has the functionality of a 9 year old.
How can she possibly understand the life long implications?
I think this is not only abuse but criminal.

Quick details: Mothers insurance is paying They had their daughter emancipated while she was a minor The mother also believes there is an overlap between transgender and autism
Actually its the same link, but is longer then the OP.

If she was emancipated, why is she still in her mother's insurance? That makes no sense...
Because of O-Care. Just because she was emancipated doesn't mean she doesn't qualify on her Mom's Health insurance. Not cracking one way or the other - this is one part of O-Care i agree with but in this case it would piss me off royaly that my health care paid for a procedure I didn't approve of. On the other hand she should NEVER HAVE emancipated her daughter if she truly has the mentality of a 9-yo. Parent fail here.
