Brats are done and keeping warm in the crockpot. Dirt pudding is made and chilling. Now I am relaxing a bit before everyone gets here. My cousins just left, should be here a little after 1. BF set to arrive around 1:30. I should probably remind my friend, she does tend to flake on me.....

Cloudy with a change of meatballs, er, I mean rain. Salads made, sauteeing onions for burgers then I'll start arranging things and setting up. Hopefully we'll get some pool time and fireworks in between storms. If not, oh well. We'll have good food.

Already 90° here. Yard work done except a little weed eating, battery is charging. Headed to the gym since i missed my bridge walk this morning. We are going to cracker barrel for dinner. Be safe all!

Sounds like ya'll have it all under control.

Now I just need to decide which one of your houses I'm going to show up at!

I don't think we are doing a big cook out or anything.

I may run and get some fresh sandwich fixings.

It's really hot, already.

FNW, I love that movie. Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs turned out to be a really good movie.

Have you seen the second one? It's good, too.

Bacon wrapped chicken wings w/ bourbon BBQ sauce; Sweet & Spicy Chicken bacon wraps; salmon on cucumber slices; hot pepper poppers; shrimp ****tail; deviled eggs; scallops in mushrooms wrapped w/ bacon; Swiss, red onion, & mayo on triscuits; jalapeno limeade; amaretto; sweet tea; coors light;

Most of the prep work is done - just have to cook/reheat and put on platters.

DH is helping sweet off the porch.

We'll watch the fireworks from a fantastic vantage point. At least no one has to drive - they're all neighbors.

crycryAAAAAGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH !

My oven won't light. DH went out to the propane tank - only 12% left. My stovetop will light, but not the oven. One dish is totally out - it absolutely has to be in the oven. I'm trying the other items in the grill - hope I have enough gas in that!

Always something  cry cryfurious  furiousfurious

G and I got to spend the first day alone in forever. He's been gone so much, and I will be gone next weekend. I took a nap (he HATES naps) but he played like he does, and cuddled me for a couple of hours. I do not take that for granted.

 That's so sweet.

I think it's awesome how much ya'll want to be together.

It's beautiful to see.

I'm watching DH clean the garage. It's kind of his domain and I get in the way when I try to help, so I figured I'd at least keep him company..with a ****tail :)

Dirt pudding was a big hit, there is barely any left. A good time was had by all. I did have to make a quick run to the store. When I got back I noticed 2 people were missing. I looked at two of my cousins and said "should I be worried that my dad and my BF are both missing?" They both go, yeah, probably. Lol

Have you every had one of "those" days, where everything you touch goes bad?

Today was that day.

After the oven conking out, I put the items in the Char-Broil grill on the porch - AFTER I had to clean off all the chicken schit! Apparently our hens like to roost on the grill at night, and leave a "deposit" in the morning. Lysol and a stiff scrub brush took care of that.

One couple came over an hour early - our invitation said "dusk" - which in this area is 8:30-9:00. They arrived at 7:30! I was dealing with the non-functioning oven. They brought a duplicate of one of my dishes (jalapeno poppers - store bought), so I had them nosh on that while I got everything else ready.

The 9-y/o daughter of one couple brought a full Tupper-ware container of home-made cupcakes - decorated with stars, stripes, r/w/b sprinkles - everything patriotic. And they were amazingly good! Moist, airy, and just plain yummy! Enough for everyone to have seconds (which some of them did! )

The propane on the grill gave out - but thankfully the 4 items I had in there had gotten cooked enough. Some of them weren't "browned", but oh well.

They stayed until after midnight - now I have to face the clean-up, and we're leaving to go fishing EARLY tomorrow morning. I think I'll take a nap when we get to the fishing camp.

Happy Independence Day - I'm GLAD I'm an American !

P. S.
The fireworks were amazing.

The small church about 1/2 mile away from us had a fantastic display. All of our guests pitched in, and we'll be giving them a $100 donation towards their expenses. I hope they do it again at New Years - we'll have another Porch Party then!

Lol. Both came back from wherever they were. So that's a plus. Everyone seemed to get along. Cousin's husband was most excited, he's not the new guy anymore.
