Again, I'm not trying to sound cold. But PTSD is nothing new. A friend of mine is married to a Vietnam Vet who was a sniper. Life was difficult for everyone in his family when he returned. He still has moments. But he doesn't blame others around him for living their lives.

 They don't blame other people.  And many of them are in counseling.  At least the ones our system doesn't "lose".  Counseling doesn't happen overnight though.

Again, it's a give and take.  Everyone should be respectful.  I knew people would shoot them off.  When the first ones went off I sedated the dogs.

I always had to sedate Hooch about a half hour or so before I expected them to go off.  I needed him to be totally out before it started or the meds wouldn't help.  My mom had two sets of neighbors setting off fire works & even with her meds Lulu was a quivering shaking mess.  She had planned to go sit out & watch the display but was afraid to leave her alone.

You don't think those Vets standing there with their signs is blaming others? Daring them to set off fireworks? Guilting them into refraining?

I have to wonder about their use of social media. Are they just trying to get their 15 minutes? Or bring out awareness? I suppose maybe a little of both, IMO.

Personally, I never gave it a thought to shoot off fireworks, the louder the better. I have a cousin who used to cover her ears and watch from the kitchen window. The noise bothered her, big time. We did it anyway, and she enjoyed watching from a distance.

Every where that I have lived, you'd have to live in a bunker to escape the noise on certain holidays, and even then I'm not sure you wouldn't hear something.

I agree with you czech. And I don't think those are for real.

My niece has been dealing with spacers, braces and oral surgery since she was about 5.

I learned had to learn how to feed her.

Bananas are good when you want to actually eat something instead of just swallow.

And potatoes. 

A baked potato always seemed to hit the spot.

Roast chicken is easy to eat. (In a day or two)

Soft fruits, pastas, fish.

In a day or two of course.

I feel you.  I hated those days.  There was nothing that made me comfortable the first couple of days... 

Yeah, our neighborhood fireworks are no louder than the hunters or target shooters in the back of my land. Sometimes the sound you "feel" is worse, and that is what the dogs feel.

 Mine didn't until this past NYE, I guess the older they get and their eyesight gets worse, the "boom" feeling scares them.  At least that is the theory.
