Is she asking to have her tummy rubbed?
Nah, she doesnt seem to like that. She is my little orange shadow most of the time. Pretty much every time I turn around she's there. She is a real sweetheart.
I'm glad she chose us. She fits right in around here. I can hardly wait to find out what the kittens look like. We have a tuxedo, a brown tabby, a calico and an orange tabby. I guess all we are missing is plain black or white and tortiseshell.
i have been reading about cat genetics, her kittens could be any color or pattern. I will post loads of pics after they are born.
I was mistaken, been reading more about cat genetics. All of Ginger's male kittens will be orange tabby and the females will likely be some kind of torbie depending on the father's color. If he was an orange tabby then all the kittens will be orange tabby.
Female orange tabby cats are somewhat unusual, with a 5:1 ratio of males to females in that color.
Ginger!! I can't wait to see her kittens. I hope daddy wasn't an orange tabby. I want a mixed litter. I did know that female oranges were rare.
We suspect the neighbor's outdoor male, Skunk. He's a torbie so that would make for a more interestingly colored litter.
She should have her kittens by sunday at the latest, assuming the vet was correct about how far along she was when he saw her.
And, if she mated with more than one male, she could have a really interesting mix of kittens!
I'm excited!
Do you have a birthing spot set up for her, Tang?
From my limited (2) experiences she won't pick the place you set up for her.
We didn't give Maria any choice, Lexxy.
We had a clean box set on its side, under Wayne's desk, in his office. Some nice, clean towels for bedding.
Once Maria "went on the purr", and we knew for sure it was time, we didn't let her leave the office.
We didn't want her to give birth out in the warehouse, or up in the ceiling.
So, we managed to get her to give birth, in a clean, safe place.
Whether she wanted to, or not.
Ah, Squirrel had a nice little set up in my closet but she gave birth while I was at work. She climbed into my cedar chest which was a good choice on her part. Safe & warm since that is where I stored my sweaters. I had to throw a bunch of them away afterwards.
At one point when the kittens were a few days old she moved them into the closet. Then in the middle of the night woke me up screeching because she wanted to move them back to the cedar chest & couldn't jump up & in with a kitten in her mouth. So of course I got out of bed & helped her move them back.

I set up a nice corner in the sun room with a box and towels. She's got her food and water and box out there.
She hates it. Lol. She keeps trying to sneak into our bedroom closet. That is not happening.
We have just been putting her in the sunroom at night and to eat her kitten food.

What are the signs that she is getting close?
She will get restless and pace.
She will want to go outside. Don't let her.
And, she will go "On the purr". The purring will be non-stop.
She'll be within a couple of hours of delivering, once the purring starts.
Dont they like small, cool, dark places where they feel safe?
Every animal we've ever had liked small, dark, cool places.

I have a minor situation with Ginger and Jim.
Jim doesn't seem to realize that a) he has no balls and b) Ginger can't get any more pregnant than she is currently.
Is Ginger allowing this? She seems very annoyed and makes angry noises when he does this but she doesn't use her claws on him.
I'm trying to keep them a little separated right now. Will he continue this after the kittens are born? Should I just let them sort it out for themselves?

Gosh Tang, I really don't know for sure.
But, she's liable to give him a smack down, if he doesn't cut it out.
There is a door on your sunroom, right?
I don't think Ginger will put up with any other cats coming near her kitties, for the first couple of weeks.

That's my best guess.
Yes, the sunroom has a door and the other cats can't get in there. I guess that will have to do for now.
I know! He never tried this with our other female cat. theres no way she would ever let him get close enough to try. She pretty much hates everything and everyone except sitting on Husband's lap.

Mounting is not always about sex, it's often about dominance.
