No, maybe not, but neither does every black person. Its about the same...
Ummm...that would be "NO, NEVER."
I can't even deal with this nonsense.
"It's about the same..."
You do understand that just because you type letters that appear on a screen, it doesn't make it TRUE? You can say that your butt is comprised of semi-precious stones...
Flan, you choose to dwell on the problem rather than the solution. I told you what the solution is. One Nation Under God. That's the solution. One people. Americans. Not hyphenated Americans. Not nursing the grievances of the past but bonding together for the future. Not looking at skin color or what political group they belong too or whether they use paper or plastic bags or eat red meat. Human beings treating other human beings with respect. That's it. Now, you can blather on about black hats and black olives and Black Friday or not.
I agree human beings should treat other human beings with respect.
However, ignoring the very real problem of discrimination, does not make it go away.
So what is your solution?
Likewise, ignoring ISIS won't make them go away but, iirc, you were one of the posters who said not to give ISIS what they want - publicity.
Yes but part of what TERRORISM is all about is creating TERROR. And I do stand by that, they thrive on the publicity and scare tactics.
I am confused as to why people are implying that terrorists and racism are similar. Ignoring racism won't make it go away. Do you see the difference?
You don't think real racism causes and thrives on terror?
You don't understand true racism if you can't understand the connection.
I believe we were talking about how people respond (or don't) to racism.
If you are saying that you respond to racism in the same way that you respond to terrorism, I am at a loss for words.
Honestly, I don't think you know what you're talking about.
I've addressed every one of your points but it seems you want to change the point.
Racism is used far too often as a crutch.
She will never understand...no matter how many of us try to spell it out. It's a mental block. We all know what you are talking about. Don't waste your time. Either she is willfully being obtuse or she really doesn't have the comprehension. There's not anything more that anyone can do...
1. No, actually that "WE ALL" does not include everyone here, so leave me out of your nonsensical blathering.
2. Lily has nothing BUT time, and it's her choice to post & post & post.
I think anyone who thinks they live in a white bubble may be the racist. I don't live in one. I don't get the uprising and I don't get it because I work and live with people of all backgrounds, and we have not issue. So what is common denominator? I know what it is, but the deniers refuse the facts.

Ignoring terrorism won't make it go away either. Ignoring the fact that good guys with guns stop bad guys with guns won't make the bad guys go away either. Ignoring inequality wherever it exists will not make it go away either.
I'm beginning to see a pattern. Ignoring things doesn't make them go away. Do you see that pattern too?
The media hasn't helped anything either. They report incidents without vetting the truth nor waiting on the investigation for the correct information.

There is a differene between ignoring and imagining. Imagining that "Black Friday" is a racist euphemism just demonstrates the ongoing idiocy. And, crying wolf over literally everything and painting everyone and everything as "racist" certainly does nothing to stop actual, real racism.

Why can't people be proud of their heritage? flan327

No one said they couldn't be. You can be proud of your heritage and still be just a simple unhyphenated American.
Exactly. I'm proud to be a good Irish girl, I can hold my liquor and throw a punch. But I'm an American. And I'm proud of that too.
Right? It's the black people that want to segregate themselves.
How exactly do black people segregate themselves?
Other than the obvious, we have a China town here, a little Italy and so on. People like to live among "their own", you see predominantly white neighborhoods as well.
There are cinemas, stores and celebrations that cater to each ethnicity. So how is it that you say attribute segregation to blacks?
I remember back, several years ago, a friend and I were having lunch.
She and I were talking about our kids and I was telling her about something one had done.
She said something about me being proud of them and I said "yeah, but then again, I'm a bit prejudice".
Well that caught the ear of a 20 something black girl.
She had no clue what we were talking about.
But she felt the need to "put me in my place".
Ranting and raving like a lunatic over a word.
She looked like a complete idiot.
After her 5 minute rant I showed her the picture of my kids and told I was talking about my kids.
She went off again.
Another 5 minute rant.
The manager had come out and was trying to calm her down.
My friend and I just sat there and stared.
Finally, an older black woman spoke up and told the young girl to shut up.
She had heard everything, even before the young girl started.
It truly was crazy.

Stupid people come in every colour.
My point is, there are those who see racism everywhere, even when there isn't any.

Well then, isn't the St. Patricks day parade a fine example of segregation? Why not just "Americans" day.
Do they really have St. Patrick's Day parades? Where would this be? I've never heard of such!!!!!! I want to go!!!!!
There is a huge St. Pat parade in Savanna Georgia.
But it's become more about drag queens than St. Patrick's day.

Like those looking for racism in every day things.

After visiting India and Indonesia and how forgiving they are to foreigners (me) who couldn't speak the language I try to be more understanding to expats living in our country.
Like I said, there are crazies everywhere. Its best not to generalize, at least that is what I find.
Refusing to see something that isn't there is a good thing.

Chicago always has a HUGE Saint Paddy's Day Parade. So does New York I believe. Is it Chicago that turns the river green?

I agree 100%. I wasn't commenting on imaginary racism though. I was commenting on the futility of ignoring things and expecting them to change. We also shouldn't ignore imaginary racism. It should be called out as the utter BS that it is, every time it's encountered.
