I don't think that term means what you think it means.
Emotional vampires suck the life out of you. The other people you speak of fall under a different category all together.
I know some emotional vampires just like the ones Gaga mentioned. I avoid them at all costs!

That is what I thought when I read it.  Emotional vampires are exhausting.  After a conversation with one they have wrung the joy out of your life.

I believe  emotional  vampires  use their crisis  more for manipulation  then advice.

See, if you’re different, then what they are can’t be “right” in their minds. There’s no live and let live. There’s no embracing differences. There’s no room for two rights in their minds, because THEY must be RIGHT in order to FEEL GOOD ABOUT THEMSELVES.

But that's different than an emotional vampire. They don't care if your different or not. Just that they can exploit you.

That is how the author of the OP defines emotional vampire.

I think what it comes down to is that some people cannot accept a different opinion and therefore try to discredit the person and not the issue. It is a form of bullying although I do see the word bully being over used these days, it is valid.

I think the author has his terms confused. He may be decribing someone intolerant.
Although I don't believe it's intolerant to think someone is wrong. We are allowed to think that.
Acting out In a hateful manner would be intolerant.

I do agree, it is not intolerant to think someone is wrong.

It is not wrong to tell someone you do not agree.

It is wrong to take it to a personal attack and try to discredit the person, not the issue.

 It's about 50/50.

There is a vampire at the cancer center. She is the financial navigator. The first time I saw her I was skeered and wanted to run. She screams vampire. Her eyes are way overdone. Tons of mascara and bright gold eye shadow. And the eyeliner. Wow, she takes that to a whole new level. Everything about her screams SHARP!
