So, coming back from vacation, I had an unacceptable amount of complaints about petty meanness on the board while I was gone, and several of the complaints were from people that don't normally complain. This is not MM, and while I am generally against censorship because we are adults, there is a time when the meanness and nastiness cross over into the realm of trolling - posting nasty things for no other purpose than to be nasty and cause discord.
It is going to stop. NOW.
As a reminder from the rules -
TROLLING. Trolling is against the rules basically on every message board and this one included.
It appears we need a clarification of what that means on this board.
What is trolling? To me - Trolling is the attempt to derail conversations with bitter, obnoxious and/or mean comments directed at other posters rather than discussing the topic.
According to the internet -
In Internet slang, a troll (/ˈtroʊl/, /ˈtrɒl/) is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory,[1] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a newsgroup, forum, chat room, or blog) with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response[2] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion,[3] often for their own amusement.
This will not be a place where you come to take out your personal issues on others, and it is not a place where non-stop meanness is going to be tolerated. We are grown-ups here, start acting like it.

A flock of flirting flamingos is pure, passionate, pink pandemonium-a frenetic flamingle-mangle-a discordant discotheque of delirious dancing, flamboyant feathers, and flamingo lingo.

Some people see "nastiness" in any disagreement. If you don't hip hooray their opinions and life choices, then you are "mean".
I am not one of those people. I am able to discern discussion from displays of immature idiocy. This thread is about the latter and what you consider nastiness is not up for debate.

To be honest folks, the constant bickering is why I don't come here as often as I might.
This. It's hard to say anything without being jumped on one way or another. I find myself taking more and more board breaks because I just don't like being hammered 5 ways from Sunday for expressing a viewpoint.
And the threads here are mainly political which (1) doesn't interest me so I don't read them or (2) designed to inflame one side or the other.
