A New Hyde Park man faces a sex abuse charge after Riverhead Town police said he groped a 13-year-old girl at a water park.
Police responded July 17 to Splish Splash in Calverton at about 2:12 p.m. after the girl reported being touched in the Kahuna Bay Wave Pool and placed Kashmir Singh, 30, under arrest, a police spokesman said.
The spokesman said as swimmers were bumping into each other in the pool, a man wearing red swim trunks approached the girl and touched her right breast. The girl told police that as she and others began to exit the pool after the wave cycle ended, the man again appeared near her and touched her right breast a second time.
The girl then pointed out to police the person who touched her, later identified as Singh, the spokesman said.
Singh was taken to Riverhead Town headquarters and charged with second-degree sexual abuse. He was released on $500 bail. It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney.
A representative for Splish Splash did not immediately return a call seeking comment. Singh could not be reached.
