Been watching the flip shows and it seems the new colors are greys and browns.

I kind of like the greys.

Not thrilled with the browns.

But either beats the mint green and avocado green of the hall bathroom and my bathroom.

Yep, grey is everywhere, on every wall - everything. As far as trends go, it's probably one of the most innocuous and grey goes with everything.

I like the grey hues, but with my gold and burgundy drapes, it wouldn't look good. I would like to re-decorate my living room, but I am struggling with a color palette where I can keep my current draperies (they were custom made just a few years ago) and still make it look "current."

If your drapes are formal - I like the last one. Navy blue and white/cream never go out of style.

When mom was redecorating our living room, she chose beige.

Just shades of beige.

Finally got a little color with the throw pillows.

They have a navy and a burgundy stripe on them.

It's not pretty.

IMG_6267.JPGIMG_6268.JPGIMG_6269.JPGMy drapes are very formal...here are pictures of my library and living rooms. Currently the walls are beige. I'm thinking of going white, but worried it might be too drab. The sofas are chocolate brown.

Don't mind the minion sitting in the chair. That was #1's touch.

Gimme a minute. Benjamin Moore to the rescue! Even the BM workers ask me about color. I need the name.

Ok, go to the BM web site:

linen white (912)

Essex Yellow (DC-42)

Palm Coast Pale (330)

Type in the name or #. You can 'paint' a room to get an idea.

You need a contrast with the drapes. Those colors will make the drapes pop.

I want to know how ya'll use that upside-down room.

Do ya'll automatically flip as you go through the door?

Even the view if flipped!

How daring are you and how much are you willing to spend?

I think adding wainscotting and painting it and the trim a rich cream would be beautiful. Then, pick your accent color from whichever palette you use.

I think real white will clash with the gold.

Linen white. Real white highlights every blemish, seam.

I love the idea of wainscotting. We have chair rail in the library (upside down room) currently, and it's white with some beige sponge work that is very subtle and tones down the white.

The palm coast might be too pink? I'm ordering the samples...still can't find the essex though.

The thing is BM colors are true. You go to Lowes what you see on a paint chip isn't the color you'll get.

Got it. Ordered all three samples. The essex might have a slight grey undertone. So far the linen looks like my favorite, but won't know for sure until I try it.

I used Straw in my livingroom. That would work, too. It is lighter than what you see. 2154-50

Straw is fab. Everyone asks me if they can copy. Go right ahead! That'd look perfect with your drapes.

They go crazy in the paint store when I surface. They run over and ask me questions.

My SIL? I did her whole house. Shoot, grey was my trend 6 years ago. Picked a fab grey and popped her built ins with white in her dining room. Told her to take the credit!

Can't wait for my samples to arrive!

I could have picked them up at the store, but it's across town and I just don't have time this weekend...

I really like this gray palette with that watery blue for a bathroom or bedroom - it looks relaxing and spa like.

You know - I tend to like colors before they become popular and it annoys me b/c then when the trend comes - it looks like I followed the fad.

I have loved turquoise/red/yellow forever, as well as every shade of spa blue and now it is everywhere.

Maybe I'll leave it alone then. But I do think I need to freshen up the bathroom...make it a little brighter.

I did my kitchen in shades of brown when I moved in 2006. The majority of the house is taupe. The original owners painted it & I like it very much.

I do love the new shades of grey but my furniture is chocolate brown & most of my artwork has browns, golds & reds. Sort of a combo of the autumn journey palette & the Tuscan palette LL posted.

How does the brown, gold & reds blend with the grey, lexxy?

Sorry my post was ambiguous.  I meant I loved the greys but it isn't feasible with my furniture & artwork.  I can't afford all new furniture, etc.  I'll just skip this trend & wait for the next one.

Gotcha.  I'm with you on that.  Love the grey, but it would be too costly to start over.  Would like to freshen up the paint though.

Benjamin Moore colors:

Guesthouse

Boardwalk

Camel back.

Pop the stone shower.

That bathroom color brings the room down.

Yeah, I even did the ceiling in the dark color. Bring it up to ceiling white or use one of the colors mentioned on ceiling?
