End of the week for all those who work. Have a safe and happy weekend!
We finally got some rain - 2" in 30 minutes. It was raining so hard my gutters couldn't move the water fast enough, but that's OK because it just spilled over onto our fall tomatoes. Sure did put on a spectacular pyrotechnical display - the house was reverberating with all the thunder.
Raining here too, but not soaking. The worst of it went to Tiny's house. I am going in late today, have to drop off my car for the accident repairs. Last day of work before vaca!

Kids are at their first day of school. Jojo will be fine, her teacher has been at the school a while and is well liked.
DD12 has 4 teachers for 7th grade - 3 of them are new and 1 of those won't start until Monday. Apparently, the man they hired to be the science teacher lied on his application and when they found out - the other applicants had accepted positions elsewhere, and they had to scramble to find a science teacher. She had actually retired from teaching and was working another job she had to give notice to, so she can't start until Monday. Luckily, for homeroom, DD12 has the only teacher that actually stayed.
Want to hear something funny? The other 3 teachers quit because they didn't like the principal. Our school is different in that it goes K-8, and is not a separate middle school, so I don't think they liked being subject to the same rules as the elementary teachers and such - the school is not run like a regular middle school. But, oh the irony - they left the best school in the county b/c they didn't like the principal, and he resigned at the end of the year.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.
Aaron goes back on the 8th of August. Picked up his schedule yesterday.
Jojo is starting kindergarten, right?

I'm glad everyone else is having a good Friday. Mine, not so much. I woke up late and had to rush to get ready. Then I fell up the stairs taking the dog out and scraped my palms. The shoes I'm wearing are a little big, but it's usually not a problem. Earlier, one slipped off my foot and tripped me. So I changed into my boots. And my pencil just broke. So much to do to close the month and I just want to hide for the rest of the day.
Lexxy - I work in at a manufacturing site, we all have steel toe boots, those are what I have on. Plus, it's about 60 degrees in my office, so it's not a problem temperature wise.
At least the boots have a thick enough sole my pants aren't too long for once 😛

Ok, I get it. I was picturing leather dress boots that come almost to the knee.
Mine don't go back to school until after Labor Day.
Same here I think. That is the way it has always been but last year my niece in Fauquier went back just before. I think it was to build in more snow days.
I think I just snickered at the thought of someone as klutzy as me.
You just hush.
I have been officially cleared to wear my respirator for another year. Today was like the worst day to schedule it, and it was right during lunch time. So I haven't actually had lunch. I stopped for cheesecake bite at BWW on my way back to the office. Seems like a perfect day for them.
Poor shop cat. Maybe she is getting arthritis? I know Dez has it in his rear hip & sometimes if I touch him wrong he gets a stinger & bites me.
I hope your vet gets her fixed up ASAP.
I'm wondering that myself, Lexxy.
Her lower back hurts when Wayne pets her.
She's also losing weight.
Which has me wondering about kidney failure.
I hope we get some answers today.
And that it's something treatable.
OOh kidney failure is not good but not uncommon in older cats either. I'll cross my fingers that is not the case here. Maybe with this heat she still didn't get hydrated enough. I worry about mine since it is so hot & nobody seems to be drinking extra.

I'm glad it's an easy fix. I'm surprised she wasn't already on flea meds since she goes outside. I'm even treating Bitey.
We were doing Revolution...but we stopped.
It just got too expensive.
But, there are other brands.
We are going to get some for Shop Cat, since she's outside so much.
What kind do you use, Lexxy?
I use Frontline because it treats for ticks too & Revolution didn't. My house backs up to woods where they like to play (hunt) & Dez is a tick magnet.
It does get expensive so I no longer treat year round. I really debated on adding Bitey but decided I didn't want him miserable & he sleeps on the back deck so he could possibly infest my house when I open the door to feed him. I decided a few rounds for him was ultimately cheaper than having my house exterminated.

Thanks Lexxy.
We'll check Costco and Pet Meds, and see who has the better deal.
Wayne still can't really get his hands on First Shift Kitty. But we will get some for Shop Cat.
Ok vaca has officially started. Doing the last bits of laundry tonight. Looking forward to it!
So jealous! Enjoy!
Yeehaw for vacation, IKWTDS!
I'm heading North, August 8th!
Crazy road trip time.
Fingers crossed on Shop Cat.
I appreciate all the good thoughts.
GRRR you are coming up the day I leave!
I'm sorry!
I'm heading to Des Moines first, to see my sister Monica and her family.
I will head to Y-town, on Friday, the 12th. (I hope to sneak in a lunch with Czech, on Wednesday the 10th.)
I'll hang out with Mom, for a week, and head to Columbus to see Irene and Phil on Friday, the 19th.
Spend the weekend, and head down to Cincinnati to see Trudy, Sunday evening the 21st.
Spend a few days with Trudy, and head to Lenexa, KS. on Thursday, the 25th.
Spend Thursday night and Friday with my niece Stephanie, and her hubby.
Back home to Texas, on Saturday, August 27th.
I'm looking at three thousand miles in old Belle.
Not counting the side trips!
It's a good thing, I love to drive!
Ok you just exhausted me.
LOL!
This is an easy trip, my pretty!
The longest day is only 730 miles.
Easy, by my crazy standards!
(I was nuts enough, to drive from Jacksonville, FL, to Fort Worth, in one day. Only driver. 1030 miles. Never again. Now I draw the line at 800 miles. Old age, and all.)
