We have tall, very thin daughters, too. Our 17 yr old is 5'11"! They always found tshirts and skirts worked for them. Leggings in cooler weather help stretch the life of a skirt that might otherwise be too short.

We shop at second hand stores and can typically find quite a bit very inexpensively. The better brands (LE, LL Bean, Hanna Andersson, etc) have held up nicely over the course of six girls.

I also sew and currently I am lucky in that our youngest still thinks mama's creations are cool. I make her a lot of farm dresses (think Little House on the Prairie). She's 8 so, if she's anything like her sisters, I have a couple of years before she laughs those off. I write my own patterns so the height thing is no problem. aww

OMG - Will you make me a Little House on the Prairie dress please?  Or a peasant dress from the 70s.

If you can fit into children's clothing, sure! I sew and knit baby and children's clothing and toys, and sell them at various school craft fairs. I make anything from newborn size to children's 10. The farm dress I'm talking about is sleeveless and fairly simple, with a blousy empire waist. My 8 yr old is in a size 10 but she's too tall for regular dresses in her size. So I sew up a few farm dresses with an extra 3 inches in length and she's good to go. They remind me of LHOTP because I always choose calico fabric (teeny floral patterns) and because I sometimes add a Peter Pan collar. They are kind of nice because if I shorten them to tunic length, she can wear them like a smoke, over a long sleeved shirt. Her school doesn't allow graphic tees or anything with a character of brand logo... or tanks. So we have a LOT of plain, crewneck tees and long sleeved tees. Children's Place used to sell them but recently I have found that they are adding glitter or jewels around the collar.

I had to reread it & figured you meant smock. And shoot I wish I could still fit into and Adult size 10 let alone children's. Cool hobby/side business for you!
