For us any way.

1 family reunion tomorrow, but I don't think I'll go. Don't know that bunch real well.

The 14th is homecoming at church.

And the last Sunday of the month is the big family reunion for dad's side.

Lots of cooking for the last two.

Anyone else?

LOL we don't do reunions. I have 4 siblings and collectively there are 9 grandchildren, but that is really it. My father has no siblings living and doesn't like the nieces and nephews. My mother has one sibling and all her kids are scattered. Although it would be a blast to meet up with those cousins.

Dad has 2 sisters. His dad had 7 or 9 siblings, I can never remember. Each of them had 2-5 kids each.

This is the large group that gets together the last Sunday of August.

There is around 200 of us, give or take.

When I was younger, we would have upwards of 300 plus.

Our family reunion was back in June. I didn't go. Only my mom's side does reunions. I average every 5 years visiting that side of the family and I go at reunion time when I do go.

Our family doesn't do reunions. We had a very small grad party for DD back home before we took her to college. That got a bunch of people together who normally wouldn't see each other. But we don't typically have reunions.

I guess it's more of a southern thing.

We love reunions.

Heck, we love any kind of large get together that involves people we like and good food!

My mom's side of the family is too poor to have reunions and my dad's side all hate each other too much lol

My grandma's side used to have reunions when I was a kid. But they just kind of stopped. Now, our family is a bit segmented. We get together every couple of months with our part. Next weekend will be one, my cousin's baby shower.

I don't think it's a southern thing, I think it's an older generation thing, and as they die off, no one picks it up.  We had family reunions on my mother's side until Uncle Orville died, and then no more. We just went very far north for DH's family reunion - which is organized by his aunts and uncles who are all 60 or older.  They are the ones that keep the family close at Christmas and keep the reunion going strong.

I went to o e a couple of weekends ago for one side of the family. My sister is hosting one the second week of September for the other side (the big side). Im not going. Spending a weekend with her (especially when she is in charge) would be my hell on Earth.

There aren't enough of us for a reunion. And one half doesn't speak to the other anyways.

Ahhhh...there is the difference. We don't like a lot of people in our extended family. DH's family is disfunctional from way back so that eliminates them. And my dad's family - the older generation doesnt all speak to one another.

Dad inherited the reunion from an uncle.

And he, in turn, delegates to me a lot of stuff.

I don't mind, I like doing it.

It does take effort to keep things going.

But I think it's worth it.

We like DH's reunion. The cousins might keep that going. My mother's side of the family is not close - there were issues, and that is never going to change. I don't even know most of them.

There are so many of us, it's important to know who they are.

Don't want to accidentally date my cousin.

Again.

You live in Georgia. It's perfectly legal to marry your cousin.

DH's family reunion took place while we were on vacation. We wouldn't have gone anyway. Only people we would know would be his father and sister, and we all know how that would end.

My class reunion is later this year. Not going. I catch up enough on facebook.

We are going to the family beach house in October so we'll see cousins there we haven't seen in years.

Class reunions are a whole other beast.

I haven't been to a single one.

Not because I didn't enjoy my friends in school.

But because all my friends were either upper classmen or went to another school.

My Senior year was decidedly different than most.

I only had 3 required classes and the rest was electives.

So, I chose electives that allowed me to leave after my 3 required morning classes.

And I still see my friends regularly.

So I don't see the point in going to a class reunion.

My senior year was the same, Lily. I was home by lunchtime, so I didn't see a lot of people that year, except the 2 or 3 I was closest too. Then I ended up marrying the brother of one of those best friends, then left him after 10 months, and lost touch with all of those friends for many years. I am back in touch with one of those friends and have been for about 13 years, but we haven't seen each other since we were 20. I would like to see her, but don't need to attend a class reunion to do that. We just need to book a flight, and neither of us have had time for that.
