We don't do the book club anymore but I need some new books to read, and past experiences have shown that you guys have very good taste. So, what's your favorite or what are you reading at the moment?

I haven't started reading it, yet, but I recently downloaded "Unexpected Grace". It's about a woman recovering from an abusive relationship who is not a dog person but takes a dog that was rescued from an abusive home, and the book is about how they help each other recover.

I recently finished The Butterfly Garden. It was a a very creepy story, I liked it.
I got about 70% through The Light Between Oceans last night. Despite great reviews, I did not like it and refuse to finish it. I could not sleep after deciding to put it down. It was an emotional whirlwind that was too much for me.
Um, what else...Ooh, Harry Potter and The Cursed Child. I felt pretty neutral about it. I think I would have enjoyed it much more as a play, but I would have been disappointed if I didn't get the chance to read it at all.
I think I am going to read It Ends With Us next. I'm not sure exactly what it's about, but I hear it is really good, and not to read reviews because the book is different than what it seems and spoilers would put a damper on that.

I like psychological thrillers.
If I gave you the name of my favorite book, y'all would probably disown me. I like terror and gore...

I'm reading All is not Forgotten by Wendy Walker. It is first book & good. A teenage girl in a New England town gets raped & they give her a new drug that will make her forget it happened. It is told from her Psychiatrist's perspective which took me a few chapters to adjust to. I read about half of it on Sunday so it is a page turner.
I also have been reading Brad Thor's Scot Harvath series & really like them. The first one was sort of funny in that the author felt like he needed to remind us every few pages that the character was ex Navy SEAL. The later ones are much better.

A flock of flirting flamingos is pure, passionate, pink pandemonium-a frenetic flamingle-mangle-a discordant discotheque of delirious dancing, flamboyant feathers, and flamingo lingo.

Seriously.
We watch horror movies on Christmas eve as a family tradition.

Wow. Just went to read about the book. Did you know the publisher refused to publish the first version? He had to re-write it. But, if you buy the digital version, he includes the unpublished, original work.

Yes, yes he does.
But I didn't know that. So I was 50% through the book and thought it had more 50% more. I was pumped! Turns out, it was the beginning of the original book. Read both versions in about 3 days...

I've read ALL of his books. Konrath and Kilborn are the same guy. He writes a lot with Blake Crouch (Wayward Pines author).
I've read all of Crouch too. Just finished up one called Last Call. That's the latest in the Jack Daniels series.
His latest book is called Webcam. I downloaded and started it Sunday. But I'm going to have to table that one for a little while. It's about a guy killing prostitutes and with what is going on in my life, I can't stomach that right now.

I read a book about a serial killer who targeted adoptive moms and tortured them to death. VERY graphic. I'm not scared. I've read many horrible stories

Vette have you Stephen King's new ones where he is trying his hand at detective novels? I think he does a very good job on that genre too. Mr. Mercedes, Finders Keepers & a third one I just bought but haven't read yet.

Y'all seem to be into the horror/ graphic stuff. You should read The Troop by Nick Cutter.
It was the best written and most horrible book I've read lately.
Another good one is The Killer Next Door by Alex Marwood.
I don't think what I'm reading will help, you. But, I'm currently reading the owner's manual on a new piece of equipment my company wants me to sell to my clients. Pretty dry stuff. But you can't sell it if you don't know how it works.
I just finished It Ends With Us. It was very different than what I thought it would be. I'm glad I didn't read the spoilers, it wouldn't have packed quite the same punch if I knew ahead of time.
