Why Women Drink

Long, sorry, but this non-woman liked it.

Is alcohol really everywhere?

I stopped reading about halfway through. This woman has a huge chip on her shoulder. If she hates her job so much she should find another. Preferably in an atmosphere where not everyone has wine on their desk.

I know right...I have never had a job where booze was flowing freely. As a matter of fact every job I've had you could be fired for drinking on the job.

Booze doesn't flow freely here...but we have been known to imbibe a little on the job here and there.

But yes, this woman has a chip on her shoulder. Self victimization at it's finest...

I've never had a job where booze was free flowing either. My BFF's SO works in a "Green" company. They have a wine bar & employees are encouraged to partake. They also do once a month after hours wine parties. It really annoys him because he would rather just go home.

Good.  I hope it helps with her attitude.

I only got as far as her panel with three male employees.

I've never seen alcohol in an office.

I HAVE seen people like the men on that panel.

Wow. Well, my impression of why everyone around her drinks is because they have to deal with her. What a basket case.

She definitely has some issues that she is very angry about.

Personally, I have worked with some men who were far worse than what she described.

I, too, have worked in offices where liquor is available. I have been shown where the director keeps his Scotch stash (by the director) in the event I need some. I thought it was a nice offer. Never partook, but it was nice to know I could.

I think when an addict comes clean their triggers become a lot more visible. Like pregnant women notice other prego women more.

Does anyone else want to go look in their office kitchen or lunchroom now and see if there is any booze there?

alcohol at work or during a work day? Hrmph. I have a couple times had a rum and coke at lunch, but always on the down low and never on any kind of a regular basis. A person can get fired if alcohol was on their breath.

I don't think there is alcohol at most work places, and I do think she is exaggerating about it being everywhere. But I definitely agree with her where she is talking about the 24-hour woman and she says "girls can do anything" turned into "women must do everything".

I just went downstairs to the breakroom and there is a fridge packed with beer. I was like WTF????

Come to find out, the label is doing their fantasy draft tonight and everyone was supposed to bring a 6 pack...

I just looked up our corporate policy...

Alcohol. On occasion, employees may entertain during work hours or after work hours as representatives of the Company. These occasions may include lunches, dinners, and business conferences. On these occasions, only moderate and limited use of alcoholic beverages is acceptable. In addition, occasionally, alcohol is served at social events sponsored by the Company. Employees are expected to remain responsible and professional at all times. Abusive use of alcohol and/or intoxication is strictly prohibited while on Company premises or at Company sanctioned events.

Yes, but we put a lot of that expectation on ourselves.
