I find this absolutely ridiculous. A go fund me page to have people pay for you to start a company? I call scam. This was on my town's FB site, well one of the school FB sites.
I don't know, a lot of businesses have initial investors.

Just a question, someone started a go fund me account for some one in town whose child died suddenly. People donated a lot of money for the funeral, now the family is claiming they never received a dime and the person who started the page is not responding to them. Is there some kind of accountability of preventing this kind of fraud?

Oh no! Profiting from someone else's loss like that is unthinkable. I have no idea about accountability.

Not enough. Public shaming perhaps.

I think that anyone who starts a fund should have to give the beneficiary to actual injured party and not be able to withdraw it themselves. I'm thinking there is some law that covers the scamming but betting it is hard to enforce.

You aren't an investor if you are giving the money. An investor gets a return if the the business is profitable.
Ok. Well. Still. A lot of time others help get a business going by giving money.
Start up money, or whatever.
I don't know why it would be on a county FB page, but other than that, oh well.

I think it would be a civil matter.

So the fb sites in town really are not"official" sites. Someone starts one and names it "town middle school" and people join it. In any case the admin can delete posts.

Coworkers husband started one because he wanted to make a farm. He doesn't work and has 4 kids by 3 women. Um, get a job and stop being a mooch. Want to start a farm? I'm sure there are loans for that. I think he got like $60 on his page.
Can someone please set one up on my behalf? I'm ordering DD8's dance gear and I'm not liking the total. I mean, I can afford it, I'd just rather spend my money on something else, but my Snowflake must still have the best dance wear. That's a good enough reason, right?

LOL!
Love your sarcasm, NAOW.
