The primary duty of most superheroes is to save the world. Well, not so much if you're a girl - at least, according to the controversial shirt pictured above.Target Australia is under fire for selling this $12 tee, which insinuates that girls should be doing chores around the house prior to, you know, rescuing humanity from its evildoers.
"Batgirl to do list," it reads, then rattles off Batgirl's apparent priorities: dry cleaning her clothes and washing the car, then fighting crime and saving the world. Sorry, Gotham - those lives in danger can wait! Batgirl has a stain on hershirt and the dry cleaner closes at five.
The shirt, which is intended for girls ages two to seven, raised tempers on Target Australia's Facebook page. Ninac Ollins, a Facebook user from Northcote, Victoria, in Australia posted a critique of the shirt, explaining why it's sexist toward women.
"What message are you intending on sending young girls?" Ollins asked the retailer in a post with over 750 likes, as well as hundreds of shares and comments. "I'm insulted that you present a future where our daughters [sic] need to complete their 'home duties' before they can go out and save the world." Plus, as The Guardian points out, the Batman shirt thatTarget Australia sells for boys is considerably less housework-centric.

A spokesperson for Target Australia confirmed to The Guardian that the shirt would no longer be sold. No word yet on whether Batman has learned to wash his own car.

Just let the law of supply and demand take care of the problem. If you don't like it, don't buy it. But for the media to write an article about it? Geesh must be a slow news day.

Well, I think batgirl can do it all - wash Batman's car AND save the world. That is, of course, until Batman knocks her up and leaves her chained bare foot and pregnant in the kitchen.

Target doesn't operate stores in Australia. It is the same name and similar logo but has no relation to Target in the US. None. Look it up.
And that matters how to the OP? Same name, same logo, same motto. The average person does not "look it up". All they see is a story about Target Australia.
