It is fascinating.  Dog opened DD's door this morning.  it was shut tight.  I have the hook type knobs on the interior doors.  I'm pretty sure he jumps and grabs the knob to open it.

My fur-baby threw up in six different spots - and of course most of
it on the carpeting. Poor baby - don't know if its just old age (she's
22 years old - ancient for a cat), or if she's getting sick. Right now
she's curled up in her favorite chair.

Good morning, world! Are your ready for us?

Mine developed an allergy to her cat food.  Did you know that you should not feed cats the same food all the time, and that eating the same food repeatedly can make them allergic?  Weirdest thing.  I had switched the food and then ran out.  I still had the old stuff so fed her some of that out of desperation - nope.  She started throwing up again.  Try changing her food - and the main protein in it.  So if you've been buying chicken meow mix, switch to salmon cat chow or something.

I've already started doing that for her - all of a sudden a couple of months
ago she wouldn't eat her wet food - so we changed it. Got her appetite
right back. She always has water (2 locations), dry kibble, and wet food
two or three times a day, so hopefully she'll perk back up.

Morning everyone. Sorry about the sick kitty Momala. Have you tried growing cat grass for her? You can buy it at PetSmart. I don't know if it will help her but it helped my cat that puked hairballs all the time.

I have never heard about needing to switch their food up LL. Mine are on a veterinary formula that Dez needs. I hope they don't become allergic.

Grab the fabreze, Momala!

Working from home today. One of the new trees the landscapers planted in the front died, so I'm having it replaced today. Decided to go with a Little Gem Magnolia instead. I want the fragrant flowers!

Tomorrow will be busy with dentist appts., meeting with a fireplace company to have our fireplace converted to gas, and taekwondo for the boys. I'll rest up today.

In my town house I converted the fireplace to gas & sort of regretted it. Gas is more convenient & far less messy but nothing beats the smell & ambiance of a wood fire IMO. This house has an electric fireplace which is basically a blow drier with fake flames. It really warmed the space but that's about it. It stopped working so now it is just something to fill the corner of the room.

Our fireplace is so very drafty and we don't use it because it's a PIA so I figured if it were gas I might use it more. Plus, when we lose power, it should provide some heat. Maybe. That's what I need to find out. I want a unit that will provide warmth. One of the contractors that came over to design our pantry suggested electric as it would be less expensive, but that won't help if the power goes out.

FNW - ours does both - we can choose to burn wood or use gas logs.

I have a blower on my wood burning fireplace. It provides great heat.

My parents fireplace had a blower.  It worked great.  We'd have to turn it off after a while because the room would get so warm.

FNW - I think the igniter on mine needed electric to start the gas fireplace.  I remember it had it's own light switch.  But I had it installed a good 15 or so years ago so things may be different now.

I miss wood heat.

Our fireplace was converted to gas after a chimney fire.

The first winter we moved in, it caught fire. The fire cracked the brick.

So. We switched to gas.

I don't like it.

It smells and gives me a headache when mom uses it.

I have a gas fireplace that the former tenants (my house was a rental before I bought it) used as a wood fireplace. You could tell, because they didn't bother to clean it out. My home inspector told me when we did our walk-through that it should be either gas or wood, but not both, and if I wanted wood, to have the gas line capped. I got ceramic logs for Christmas the year after I bought my house--those things are stupid expensive!!--but they didn't fit right. I had to have a plumber come out and install them and cut back the gas line so the base would fit. It took another two years for me to get around to that. Since then, though, we use the fireplace a lot in the winter, especially DS.

Edited: because I apparently forgot what logs are. SMH.
