I agree, but I would like to replace with a rug runner with those pretty brackets. Very traditional.  Otherwise, it will sound like a herd of elephants going up and down those stairs.

Why are you in my Boss's house?  I swear, this is exactly what they have except the stairs go right instead of left.

It's pretty!

What I cannot tell by the pictures is if the center hall goes all the way through. I love a center hall that goes front door to back door.

Large french doors would have been common in a house like that.

The farmhouse that we lived in (and got married in) was built in 1880 and had a shotgun hall. We never had to turn on the air. There was always a breeze, even on 90 degree days. I would move back there in a heartbeat....

Oh...and G and I are seriously talking about buying this house. He contacted the realtor today. This is my dream house. If we can work it out, I may be moving to TX...

Ok so I correct that flaw in my thinking to Lily's suggestion of french doors.

Or a big dutch door.  But french doors are good, too.

I don't see gas lights as being any more hazardous than gas fireplaces. That's what CO detectors are for.

Not sure how much heat a wall sconce would put off. I would think there are light bulbs that simulate a flame. Or at least there were before this administration started telling us what kind of light bulb we were required to use.

The Energy Independance and Security Act is the act that phases out incandescent bulbs. It was passed by congress in 2007 and signed into law by President Bush. The original act included timed stages of phasing out the bulbs which is what you are seeing now. 2007. President Bush.

I appreciate your willingness to say that. So please don't blame things you don't like on the president you don't like because you assume it must be his doing.

That house is gorgeous!

I've never seen a toilet that was wider side-to-side than front-to-back though.

There were other things he did as well I did not like, but overall I thought he was a better President than Obama.    But yes, give credit (or blame) where credit (or blame) is due.

I'm like you fnw. We are in the lighting  industry  and believe  me  it is more about money  then the environment. I'm disappointed  he caved on this.

The mercury filled bulbs were such a sham and put a lot of people out of work and now look at what they are doing to the environment.  People don't recycle them all the time so they go into the land fills with the mercury. Soon we will have big time water issues.  The EPA needs to be disbanded, and not just for that but for many regulations they've pushed through just to line the pockets.  I know, I used to work for them.

It's all a big scam. I'll bet if a little digging was done we'd find a conflict of interest.
