A red roof doesn't bother me personally but I can see how it'd be an eyesore.

Is it bright red? Or a more muted shade?

Re the any of shade of brown - Just curious. How lenient is that? Would mahogany be ok?

mahogany as in dark brown or as in red?  LOL.

The color of this roof can best be described as the color of artificially dyed red velvet cake.

The mahogany I'm familiar with is mostly brown with hints of red.

I can see why your HOA wants that roof changed. Ew.

OMG!!! DH talked to the roofer today. The same roofing company did our roof last month, and we're still getting insurance checks and finishing up that stuff. So, DH asked him - are you the one that sold the red roof to the guy down the street? And the roofer was like, yes - I did. And I TOLD him not to choose that color. I TOLD him the HOA wouldn't like it and he'd need to get it approved. The guy refused to choose another color and insisted on that one. It's so bad that when the workers opened the shingles up the day of installation, they stopped work and called the supervisor, sure that the wrong shingles had been delivered. Nope.

So, I was thinking maybe a sample looked different and it was a shock when it went on, but nooooooo, they KNEW what they were doing. It helps, because I was feeling bad about having to make them change the roof, and thinking of alternatives, like maybe a different trim paint color of something. Nope. They are going to change that roof or pay a fine of $50 a day until they do.

There are none so blind as those who won't see.
