I heard this morning that one lady died of a heart attack. They are calling it a storm related death because she refused to evacuate, had a heart attack, and all 911 operations had been suspended in her area.

There are some people that have said they would REFUSE to evacuate. I hope they drown. Cleansing of the gene pool...
Well, i dont' think it is that simple 04. Not everyone has the means or money to even evacuate. Or, they dont' have anywhere to go. Or, they are long in the tooth and that is their home and if they die, they die. I can see thinking that way at some point in my life. So, no I would not want anyone to drown. However, if they wish to take that risk then that is on them and they can't expect to have someone rush in to save them.
So that is what the Governor is saying, if you stay you are risking not only your life but the life of a first responder. People do have options if they cannot afford to go somewhere. There are shelters and transportation available. Some people just refuse to leave. They place their "things' at a higher priority to their own lives.
This. People that refuse to leave during a mandatory evacuation should be forced to leave. In handcuffs if necessary. There is transportation. There are shelters. Everyone has the resources. And those that refuse should not expect help.
They shouldn't expect help. We should not be risking the lives of first responders because someone refused to leave.

FEMA uses those as a gauge to see how bad things are.

The storm is not over, so I don't understand the "only 2 people dead" comment. It's completely premature.
Shepard Smith said on the air that "everyone you know that didn't leave , is going to die". That they are already dead if they didn't leave. I am saying that creating a lot of hysteria doesn't really help these kinds of situation. Be smart and leave because a Cat 4 is nothing to take a chance with.

Yeah, and he has been taken off the air for his "your are all going to die and so are your children" comments.

I don't see why. Some people are just too stupid to make the right decision.
They don't understand the very real danger and need straight forward, in your face, warnings.
Like I said, I saw interviews with parents, holding their little kids hands, saying "it exciting, we're staying".

I am saying that if you cry End of World Catastrophe for every hurricane, that people will stop listening. Just be honest about the reality. This is a Cat 4. You may die from flying debris or drown in a storm surge, etc. We are all at risk to die everyday so why add a few more opportunities?
I dont think i would want to be driving towards that!!
Heres a shot of a map. See Phillips hwy? See Jacksonville? See the water the highway goes over just before going into Jacksonville?
He was driving away from the beach. That's the evacuation route.
That what was forming over the body of water.
Two fronts colliding.
That's a cloud wall.
Just one reason these hurricanes are so dangerous.
They spawn other weather related catastrophes like tornadoes.
I have friends in Tampa and Palmetto, they've had tornado warnings since Thursday.

You mean like the warnings given for 2 weeks before Katrina? Those idiots were told for 2 weeks they were in the path of a cat 4 storm and they refused to leave.
They couldn't connect the dots. It wasn't real to them until it was too late.
I don't think being blunt 8n these situations are wrong.
"This is a killer storm. If you stay, odds are, you will die."
And I think anyone who stays after mandatory evacuations have been ordered should be charged for any assistance by rescue and if you have kids, child endangerment and whatever else that can be added.

Lilly, I agree with you. Yes, you need to be blunt. Tell people the dangers. Don't overstate it and don't understate it. However, if you are among the dead, you are fully dead be it 10 people or 1000.
