Yep! I get to go home today! Roads are passable and neighbor says we have power restored! Will have to toss all my refrigerated food out and no stores really open yet. Curfew 7-7 so I hope traffic isn't too bad. Will pick up a few essentials before we get to our county.

For your frozen food, if there are still ice crystals in the
product, you are safe to refreeze it, and use it. The
texture may not be optimal, but you won't have to
throw it out.

Glad you can go home. Stay safe!
There was a a bag of ice in the freezer so if it looks like it didn't melt and refreeze then I'll know it's ok. I had also packed rhe freezer with water bottles before we left so everything may not have thawed out. I'm not sure how long the house went without electricity. I'm guessing 48 hours.
Dilemma; do I turn the heat on? I would like to see how far into the season I can go without using the heat, but DD is wrapped up under a comforter on the sofa because she is cold. I am not cold, yet.

What do you win if you make it so far?
Turn on the heat!

Seriously, turn it on now. Because it's when you turn it on, you discover if there are any problems and you really don't want that to happen when it's freezing.

Turn on the heat!
Beat my personal best for going the longest without heat???
BTW system works fine, had the annual tune up a few weeks ago and the system was turned on then to check it out.

IKWTDS, just turn on the heat. Maybe a little lower than usual.
It is a chilly, sunny fall day! Currently 51 with a high of 62. 60s forecast for all week.
Last week of classes. I need to drop one of the three classes I scheduled for the next round. I need to get my time management better organized before I take on three classes. I think I did pretty well for the two current classes but I know I am not ready for three. Still have one more final project to go.
Then I need to get the house organized again. I have let things slide a little too far. The floors have not been mopped in months. The garage needs to be organized so we can park a car in there when the weather gets bad over the winter. I need to finish organizing the attic. And I need to put my summer clothes away and bring down the winter ones. Oh, and we still need to sanitize/steam clean the guest room so it is safe for DIL. Need to remove all traces of a bird every being in there.
And somewhere in there I need to shop for SS. I have given up on ever doing a homemade gift. I just do not have the time.

So the only thing you get is being cold for several extra weeks.

I'm working today, still in training mode. All that means is I do all the work while my trainer goes out to smoke every five seconds. Oh well, I'll be past this stage soon I hope.

Doesn't take much to make me happy!

IKWTDS, don't turn it on! Give that girl something to do and she'll warm up!
It's 54 here.
Lots of wind today.
We just turned our units up to around 73 so they don't come on so much.
We keep the heat around 67 in the winter.

When I lived alone, I wouldn't turn the heat on until November 1. But I was poor, that was my excuse.
Another busy day at work. I literally almost fell out of my chair earlier. I was rolling back to my desk from the shredder and hit the lip of my chair mat. It about bucked me right out of the chair. The best part, I did this in front of my temporary boss, the president. Way to make an impression.
Been fighting it for weeks but this morning the pain got to be too much. It was making me sick and causing my insides to shake.
Feeling a bit better now.
They gave me something stronger for later tonight, too.
My blood pressure is up, too. 174 over 104, and a fever. I'm surprised they didn't send me to the ER.

The shot has helped. I don't feel like crying anymore.

Aww, man. My friend's kitten died today. They took it in to get neutered and it went into cardiac arrest and didn't make it. Poor thing. He was so sweet, too!

So have the house up to 69 degrees and climbing. i have a fire going. I will have to turn the heat on before I go to bed, temps are supposed to dip below freezing tonight. And I am doing a happy dance since I bought a few sweaters over the weekend so i get to wear them!

This is Gizmo after we wore him out Saturday playing with him! He was a little wild man. RIP Gizmo.
Aw :( I can't imagine that's a very common occurrence
No, it's usually not. Although this is the second pet I've know to die during spaying/neutering. This little guy was a stray she rescued when mama had kittens outside her apartment.
