So, several stores are bringing back layaway. Have you ever used it? I used it once when I was younger so I could pay over time.
I'm really thinking about taking advantage of Walmart's layaway for several things so I can choose it now, but let Walmart store it until closer to Christmas, then I don't have to worry about the kids finding it.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.
I used to work it at K-mart. When I was moved from registers to Domestics (towels, bedding, yarns and crafts, not kitchen stuff) I also got to run the layaway counter. It was September when people started their Christmas layaway shopping.
Great idea but where they stored the stuff (dark, dirty, bird infested attic that was not temperature controlled), there is no way I would ever put anything in layaway.
And it's better now, cause you can make payments online.
I've used it most my life.

I don't know if they still do it, but when you went to get the layaway out, if there was a sale on something, it applied to layaway as well.
You just had to bring it to their attention.

Well...Kmart. Enough said.

our kmart is horrible . I go there maybe once or twice a year and I usually leave pissed off due to long lines and one cashier. Last time I went the cashier looked like she was on something .
You would think after Sears bought out Kmart it would have gotten better.
It's nasty.
Never been in one that wasnt.

This was back when Kmart was a lot better than it is now. This was back in 1987-88. We did not have Walmart then. We had Ames and Bradley's. I won't go there now.

Ames! Bradley's! I remember those stores. They were the model for Wal Mart. Wal mart is so much better.

Speaking of remembering stores, are there still any Woolworth stores anywhere?

I never realized the Woolworths was essentially started so close to me in Pennsylvania. There was one store in NY first that was only open for three months. Then in PA where it eventually took off.
