Political discussion. Or how to save our Country

So we all bellyache over the election. How about discussing how you think we need to change things?

ACA has got to go, but how do we change that and not upset the apple cart?

Term limits are needed, but how do we encourage people to run for office to replace the outgoing pols?

Let's fix this country.  Need your input

I think our government needs to be held accountable. We have given them too much control.

But people don't want to get involved.  We have gotten lazy! How do we change that. We talk the walk, it is time we actually walk!

We need to focus on Energy and the energy grid. We cannot power our country without it. We need to be mining coal, natural gas, oil, etc. We need to open Anwar and the Keystone pipeline, etc. Without energy, we are screwed. W tried to address this in his first term and was smacked down.

I also think there should be some type of work for welfare for those who are able bodied. We are making it way too comfortable for those on the system. It's easier to stay home than work for some.

The oil companies are lining too many pockets. There are a lot of rich politicians who are standing in the way of alternative energy.

I've posted before about this. Because we allowed people, able bodied ones, to stay on welfare for decades, they are now approaching retirement and have not means to retire on, no SS because they didn't work.  And now we will have to support them.  Welfare is a downfall. we need it for short term, but the system is broken.

But alternative energy is shoved down our throats.  It is NOT feasible in many areas. Windmills are shoved down at us, expensive with no results.

There are a whole lot of things that need to go back to the states.

The Federal Government is there to protect our country and our Rights.

Not tell us what to buy, what our schools should serve for lunch, how to take care of our unemployed.

There is too much micromanagement.

Immigration is not a problem. Illegal immigration is.

If found to be here illegally, you get sent back immediately.

Term limits are important.

Lowering taxes to bring business back to American soil is the economic boost we need. America was the export leader of the world 30 years ago. Now, America is one of the biggest import countries. From a nation of producers to a nation of consumers. The only way to bring production back is to lower all and eliminate some of the taxes on business.

I think the following things need to happen:

1. Close the border and build a wall. If you aren't here legally, you are going home or going to jail. Period. The law is the law.

2. Unfair Trade deals. We aren't going to accept and sell your crap freely if you aren't giving our goods a fair market as well.

3. Made in America. If your goods are made here, you get steep tax relief. If your goods are made overseas, you will be taxed to import them.

4. Energy. That is huge. Or "Yuuuge" in my opinion. No power, no economy.

5. Taxes. Dump the IRS. A flat tax. Simple.

6. Health care - Let local markets drive health care. Let people cross state lines for health care.

While I agree with the idea and principle of a wall, I have... shall we say, questions. Concerns really.

Absolutely, illegal is illegal. If here illegally, and you should be able to prove your citizenship in a day or two, immediate deportation at your own expense. Meaning anything you had is confiscated immediately.

Here is my thing, while walls are great for keeping people out, they are also great at keeping people in.

So I wonder how it could be used against us.

I see lots of ideas on WHAT needs to be changed but nothing on HOW to change things.    I seriously doubt any of us can change much of anything.  The election process, which held in good stead for years, seems to be a joke now.    To effect change would take a lot of getting off of butts and actually DOING something.    Protests, etc. seem to have become an anathema to people in the US.   A revolution would bring gasps of horror from most people.    Until enough people are really hurting, not much is going to change.   Too many things have been given over to the government to handle and it is just easier to sit back and gripe rather than to try to actually do something.   Elect decent officials, at least at the local level.    I do not know the answer on HOW to change things, but I do know change is never easy.

How do we do it? We kick govt out of our lives and let personal efforts and responsibility rule.

karl you are very insightful, extremely thoughtful.  It will take a long time to correct this country, there will be term turmoil. We all need to know that we have to deal with that turmoil. Trump can't fix everything but he can set the pace,

This man LOVES the U.S.  He has put so much on the line for this.  We owe this man, whether he wins or loses.
