Yeah I always thought I hated ham until I had my first Honey Baked. Remember the key that was used to open the canned ham?
My grandmas, all 3 of them, had a key on a string at the kitchen sink. Apparently, a lot of cans needed them back in the day.

I have peeled and cut 7 lbs of potatoes, they are in a pot of water in the fridge.
Cornbread is done for the dressing.

And once I rest up, I'm cleaning up what I have left in the kitchen and I'm not doing anything else.
My mom just came in. Fussing about everything.
Dad's been in the yard all day, but she wants to know why he isn't done and she wanted that carport cleaned off today.
Then she asked what I was making, she rolled her eyes and said there wasn't a point, no one would eat it.
She scoffed at the chocolate cake cooling on the table.
I told her the potatoes were peeled and soaking and the cornbread was made for her, she went off on how it should have been done tomorrow and how I probably messed it all up.
Me and my kids have cleaned this house from top to bottom, I've done the shopping, I've done everything I can to help.
All she has done is make a mess every evening and complain we haven't done something right.
I'm done.
She can do the rest herself.

I'm so sorry your Mom doesn't appreciate all you have done, Lily.
Has anyone ever been honest with her?
Told her, that she is not much of a cook ....and we'd be happy to do it.???????
I'd like to smack her. (Not really...I think Lily understands what I mean.)
If you don't enjoy doing it...let someone who enjoys it, have at it! Right?
I'm sad that she insists on doing it, Lily.
Holding a good thought, that you don't strangle her!

I look forward to the day the turkey is nothing but a carcass, so I can break it up in my largest stock pot, add celery, onion, carrots and simmer on low for several hours. This makes the best broth/ stock, and it freezes well - if I can manage to have any left over after I make turkey noodle soup!
We do this too. Same day. If not then the very next day. Our dogs eat broth on their food so we put it in mason jars and use it for that. Also, we put in the sweet potato peels too. Our dogs love them. I make the mashed sweet potatoes about a week ahead of time and freeze them and then take them back out the night before.
We're having a really scaled down version. Not so much the food but the amounts.
Turkey and ham. Last year my crowd put away a whole turkey so this year we're doing two and a ham.
Mashed sweet and regular potatoes.
Dressing
Rolls
Apple, pumpkin, and pecan pie.
Chocolate cups with coffee filling.

Ditto. Know your other family members will enjoy all your hard work, and mom is just mad, mostly at herself, because she just can't do it all anymore.
She never did do it all.
I try to remember that she is probably stressed taking care of her mom every day.
I feel for her.

You didn't say anything to anyone else that posted on this thread. I am still a member of this board and can post when and where I want to as long as I follow the rules. You really do enjoy making yourself look petty.

Hi Vette! I think of you often! I miss you too! I was going to email you the other day about something but then didn't.

Really? Was thaat necessary? Talk about a cheap shot. Way to keep it klassy! You could have just ignored and moved on. Instead, you are choosing to stir a pot.

Oh, I have been around and have seen much stirring from both sides. Grow the hell up and ignore. Be the better person because the sniping makes that person look like the Azzhole.
The only trouble I see is you. You started it on this thread and seem to be determined to keep it up not matter what. I don't see it on any other thread here tonight.
If there is **** on other boards, leave it there.
Ignore it. Stop baiting each other. That is for both sides.
All she did was post what she is having for thanksgiving, it was a fun thread and the comments put a damper on it. if you don't like someone just ignore them. I've seen the other board too and let's just leave it there.
I'm not on the other board, all I saw was someone posting what their thanksgiving dinner was going to be.
Anyway. I'm doing ham which is about as boring as it gets :p (not counting all my delicious sides)
We're doing ham for the first time! :)

My cheesecakes always crack too that's why I always put a topping on them. Usually sour cream or ganache.

Ham sounds good vette. Lily your desserts looks amazing!
Thank you.
If I can find some pretty strawberries I may pile some up in the middle of the chocolate bundt.

Lily, your desserts look so good! Makes me wish I could have some.
I'd share.
Who knows, my mom keeps on I may take my desserts on the road!

Strawberries will go really good with chocolate cake.
Both in looks and taste!
I'll have to see if I can find some.
If not, oh well.

So DD made a Pumpkin Crisp tonight. She had made it at school. She did the whole thing including the dishes. We snuck a piece and it is awesome. She will be very proud tomorrow when all the family compliments it.

Today I made the sweet potatoes, a pumpkin crumble cake, and a pecan pie cheesecake. Then I tossed a frozen pizza in the oven for dinner cuz I didn't feel like cooking anymore, lol.
My brother worked for an aerospace company and they used to give each employee a ham at Christmas. He would give it to me because I would host Christmas Eve, and I'd cook it with an orange marmalade/brown sugar glaze and serve it for dinner. I didn't have a lot of money so his contribution was much appreciated!
