So this is my pathetic tree. I bought it two years ago when we were going to Disney for the Christmas break knowing a real tree wouldn't cut it. Loved the no mess thing I have kept it. Most of those gifts are DS' and his love, the new almost addition to the fam. There are a few for DD but I've hidden most of hers.

For those of you who want live trees, but dread the clean-up,
here are some tips.
1. Cut 2" off the base once you get the tree home. IMMEDIATELY
immerse it in a bucket of water. If you can, store it outside, in
a protected area where the sun won't burn it, until you are ready
to bring it inside and decorate it.
2. Your local nursery or tree farm/seller should have bottles of
preservative, sometimes called "Prolong". This is the best on
the market. If you can't find this, use the packets of flower
preservative that your florist gives away with bouquets.
3. Put an old sheet on the floor before you set the tree in its
stand. This will catch all the stray needles that will fall during
its time indoors.
3. Once it is decorated, turn off the lights, and mist the
tree with plain water every day. Trees get hydration from
their needles as well as their roots/trunk. Use about a quart
of water a day. Make sure the stand always has fresh water.
If it is hard to access the stand, use a turkey baster to make
sure the stand is full.
4. When you are ready to take it down, lay it on its side and
move it trunk first.
5. Have you considered re-using a fresh tree? Make garlands
of fresh (unsalted) popcorn or cranberries, and give your
feathered friends a treat. Or make outdoor ornaments using
toilet paper cores. Punch 2 holes near the top, string with
kitchen twine. Slather with peanut butter, then roll in wild
bird seed. Hang as ornaments on your new outdoor tree.

Okay, first of all, my nickname is swirly and I love all things swirly. Secondly, I love Dr. Seuss which this tree most definitely reminds me of. I love it!
And great tips Momala!

IKWTDS - I love that little tree, it's very cute. Might I suggest putting it on a stand, though, to give it height so the presents don't overwhelm it so?

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

I thought of that but need a lower table. Plus it makes the presents look bigger.
