Now he is acting like it's eating his face and insides.
Crazy dog.

Schools close, government closes, stores are striped of bread, milk, and eggs. There isn't a sandwich meat or can of soup to be found.
Even the interstate gets shut down at times.
But. We don't have snow equipment either.
There is a snow plow that is shared with 3 counties.
The good news, it's usually gone within a day, maybe 3.

In the 40s here getting up to the 50's. But later in the week, snow is predicted. Just rain early morning today and stopped before my commute.
Got the Santa photo yesterday. Waited 1 1/2 hours to get it but we did and it's done. Luckily, they get our cell # and text us when it's our turn. #1 and DH watched the Redskins game and got the text just as the game ended, favorably. #2 & I shopped, snacked, and colored. The time really flew by.
OK, so far I've called the car insurance company and started the claim. Then, I called the collision center - whose owner is a client. So, that will be nice.

Never seen anyone hit a deer, but here it's brutal on the car.
Ever hear the 911 call about the guy hitting the deer? It's hilarious.
Did see a midsized sedan hit a full grown horse once.
It was crazy.
The horses had bolted from the pasture and ran across the road.
The one horse kind of slipped on the asphalt right in front of an oncoming car.
Honestly, I'm not sure if the car hit the horse or the horse run under the car.
The driver got out, we were all walking up to it when the horse, which was head, shoulders and half under the car, stood straight up.
Lifted that car up almost vertical and ran.
Totalled that car.

I hope everyone was okay?! Deer at night scare me. Heck, they scare me during the day.
Yes, we're all fine. That deer came out of the pitch black - I didn't see it until it was RIGHT THERE in front of my headlights, and there was no time at all to even react. He leaped down an inch in front of my car. Hit him square on the front of the bumper - I have deer hair stuck in the cracks. Then, it broke off the corner of the bumper. I couldn't find it, so it ran off a bit, but I can't think it would have survived. I was going about 40-45 and never braked.
The girls didn't even see it. They were like - what was that?

That is pretty fast for hitting such a large animal. i am surprised that just your bumper was damaged.

Nearly all the slush and icky-ness is almost gone here. It's 3*C, so "brisk" as far as Canada is concerned. Our city shuts down with only a few centimeters of snow too. People don't have winter tires, the freeze makes the hills un-driveable and this time 'round, the ice & snow on two of our major commuter bridges was falling from the highest support wires. They were calling them 'ice bombs'. 30 cars on my commute and 20 on the other commute came down in one day, causing accidents and shattering windshields.
It's been a hazard on the other bridge since they built it a few years ago but my commute bridge is 30 years old and this is the first time it's had ice bombs. They closed it the other day but I was off, so it didn't matter.
Oh right. AND ... I just got Hunter Boots so that I don't have to be all wet and damp when I walk the dog (or just go outside, really) so I'm sure it will never rain or snow again. In my entire city. Damn boots and socks were nearly $200.

how could it not be cold and snowy in Canada?

RIGHT?! I live on the west coast though. We have weather similar to Seattle but are in a slightly different eco-system. We have what is called the Pineapple Express, where we get warm weather for about a minute. Then we have slush and then it melts. Technically, the eco-system an hour or two north of me is a rain forest.

Well you need the boots for the slush! Slushy weather sucks, if you are crappy weather it might as well be snow so it's pretty.

But it's all meeeeeellllted! I need more snow and slush so I can justify my boots! And now I'm off to the mall to buy cupcakes for a gathering tonight. Must celebrate the friend who finally finished her Masters. 1 normal sized gourmet cupcake for her, a 6-pack of small ones for the rest of us. If we're lucky there will only be 3 additional people so we all get 2!! (I get cupcake-jealousy).
Well, 6 hours ago, we were sitting on the beach enjoying the waves and the sand. Now we are home and cold. And very very tired...
Welcome home.
