There is easily 200 -300 birds in ours and the neighbors yards. The whole neighborhood is covered in them.
Snow birds.
The ball fields across the road are covered, too.
So many, that when they collectively take off or set down, you can feel it.

Remember the guy that I worked with (also a friend) that got caught soliciting a teenage prostitute? Well, yesterday was his court date. 3 years probation, 3 years on the registry. If he has no other infractions, his record will be expunged after 3 years. I'm not quite sure how I feel about this.

Wow. He got off easy. He must not have been one of the people they were after. Probably a wrong place wrong time situation.

I think he got off easy too. I'm struggling a bit with it.
His wife is sticking by him. I knew that she would. Her ex husband is going to cause them problems though. He's going to have to get an emergency restraining order if he doesn't want the guy around his girls. He has no recourse right now to keep them away.

Today is starting off good. DS likes munching on dry cereal. He spilled some and asked for the broom and dustpan so he could sweep up his mess. I'm going to see if his positive attitude will extend to cleaning up his room later today.
Got another phone call saying Aaron wasn't at school this morning.
Second time in two days.
Called the school.
Told them where to find Aaron, the secretary gets back on the phone and starts telling me he isn't where he is supposed to be.
He is in the auditorium running lights for the play they are doing for all the elementary schools. Did it yesterday, they will do it tomorrow.
She is telling me he isn't supposed to be in there until his class period.
Ummmm..... yes he is. permission forms were signed by me and all his teachers so he, and every student participating, could be in there the whole time.
I did it way back when I was there, Caitlyn did it the 4 years she was there, and this is Aaron's 4th and final year.
His 1st period teacher is being a butt.
I told them to fix it and stop screwing around.
Idiots.

Something amazing just happened. One of the engineers asked for help with HOW to do something. He didn't just expect me to do it, he asked how. I showed him and went back to my office. And he just came to ask where the stuff he was using goes so he could put it away. I at first didn't understand what he was asking, these guys never actually put anything away lol
My mother insists I drive to the bus stop and pick up the boys because it's cold outside. We live 4 houses away, and it's 49. They are dressed in layers and have their winter coats on. And they love to walk. Am I wrong to let them?

No. my sister and I walked nearly half a mile from the bus stop to the house. We survived. They will be fine.
Our houses are on little over half an acre so we're not talking about a city block per house, but we're not talking about micro lots either. I think they are fine but most of the neighbors drive and pick them up. I can understand the ones who live further up the road, but the dingbat across the street picks hers up. Most of the time she ends up following her daughter who wants to walk. I told her if she's worried she can walk home with the boys.

Absolutely !
You should be there, waiting for them.
Heck, you actually insist on getting on the bus and walking them off, holding their hands, and then making sure they are secure in their 5 point restraint car seat.
Terrible mother!

My mom tells me I shouldn't leave the boys at home alone.
Uh. Mom.
They're 19 and 18. They'll be ok.

I shake my head at the parents who are waiting in their cars with their kids for the bus in the morning, no matter what the weather. I can see if it is pouring or snowy, but it is everyday. These are the same parents who let their kids roam the streets after school and on the weekends.
We absolutely keep them in the car in the morning until the bus arrives. The couple times we didn't, my husband sent them on the bus with muddy, wet clothes so bad even his teacher had him change. Or end up with broken/sprained fingers. They chased each other around trees in people's wet yards and fell or tackled each other playing football while waiting. Sure, I could use this as a teaching opportunity, but I'm the one who ends up having to take leave to care for them when they get sick or break their bones. It's not worth the hassle.
Oh boy you peeps would be surprised to learn that I leave for work 1/2 hour before DD goes to the bus stop. Sure she walks across the street to the neighbor's and they drive DD and their DD to the bus stop. At the end of the day, she walks home from the bus stop. And I am not here. The HORROR!

Yeah I should be flogged by the judgement of some people. Not my neighbor's though. I raised a good one who is self sufficient already, and better then most of his generation, I think DD will stand out even further from her generation. Imagine that one of her chores is to take the dog for a walk when she gets home AND has to have her homework done by the time I get home from work, guess what? she does it! Sometimes even starts dinner. I am so horrible.

When the boys start middle school DH will be taking them rather than having them ride the bus in the morning. The bus picks up 1 1/2 hours before school starts because the school is on the other side of town and I think that's ridiculous. Their commute to school would be as long as, if not longer than, my work commute to another state. They will be riding the bus home because it won't be as long going home.
