So a day late, but it was suggested that we have a memorial Ed who, sadly, passed away. Let's post are favorite and happy stories about Ed!
Love his car talk posts! Ed was so caring of woman driving and finding themselves stuck on the side of the road, and many of the car talk stories were both amusing and educational.

He and I discussed the differences and similarities in our religions.
He was always willing to talk and listen.

I was always impressed about how he always took care of his wife even though it wasn't always easy for him. A lot of men would have quit along time ago but he never did.
He was so happy to talk about his job when DH and I
met him last Summer when he was in our town at a
business convention. He was always so helpful when
it came to car talk, giving us wonderful educational
tidbits, and he was so proud of his family.
Ed always was quick to tell someone "good job! You did well!" When you are a grown up you don't get a lot of people telling you that. It was nice to hear.
Ed was willing to say he was mistaken. He was eager to learn new things. I will miss that about him.
He was a true gentleman.

So if I was asked to give a eulogy, my words to his family would be that he loved his sons and his wife. As much as life gives us crap, Ed turned his experiences into life learning for the GT. We may not have always accepted it as that but I do believe he meant the best for us.

This is so true. I also was impressed by his devotion to his wife.

I am so glad you met him. I never did although I traveled to his area several times, didn't work out for him.

Ed helped my sister and sent her stuff for her geek shower when we threw her one. He sent very thoughtful gifts. He also took the time to pm me about any personal problem that I had posted on the board.

Thanks for doing this, IKWTDS! I asked about this a few days ago on the break room thread but nothing came of it. Nice to see it on the main board.
I remember Ed as a kind, gentle man, always feeding us articles to help us learn things and take care of ourselves. And I don't remember ever hearing judgment or criticism from him. He was a helper soul, and will be missed and remembered.

Yes, its sad to be reminded of someone who has passed
away, but also what a wonderful opportunity to remember
what a kind and sharing a gentleman he was.
Very sad, I received a notification on FB about it being Ed's birthday today.
I had that happen to me with another friend.
They had been gone a year and they were in my memories feed.

Someone posted a Happy Birthday greeting to his timeline, someone else requested that person to PM her so she could tell her the news.
I have given my son permissions over my FB account through FB. He can delete the page or post whatever he wants on it. I think as social media grows and is more part of our lives, we all need to give proxy to a trusted individual just as we do our medical and such.

I had to give an official statement to a government agency and submit to questioning today. I thought of ed and all of his good advice whenever someone had to do something similar. It made me smile. When I was done our outside counsel said I did a fantastic job. Hugs to ed.
