I'm thinking about getting one...but not sure about size. I would like to be able to fry 4 or 5 chicken thighs at one time. Or enough cut up potatoes to serve 4. I don't want to spend too much, as I am not sure how much use it will get.
Both ways. If I want a little chicken finger I may buy Perdue or he'll slice thin, bread crumb (seasoned) and pop them in. I saw an ad over the weekend for mac & cheese in it.
5-7 minutes, I think. I have never used it. You heat it up while prepping and it is all ready to go. Easy clean, too. No mess, no drama, no small parts.
The last thing I need are more kitchen things (I have 2 cupboards. One is above the stove. - Oh, and two under the sink but they have no sides and are deep enough to put a body in. I can't put anything in them or I'll never see it again!
It's kind of like a mini convection oven. So far I've only used my stuff to cook frozen stuff, but I love it. Makes super crispy French fries, onion rings, etc. also, mine doesn't have to preheat, you just turn it on and 10 minutes later you have crispy fries.
I have got to stop using jasmine rice in the cooker. It's mushy. Might make good sushi rice!
I always had mushy rice too, and now I use 1 cup rice to 1 1/2 cups of water (and if I need more, then go up in same amounts and it works great) rice always turns out perfect

I use the same proportion, riding. I think I use more for brown rice, however. But with the instant pot, I follow the hippressurecooking.com directions. Last night I made risotto and it was 1:2 ratio.

Just don't make my mistake. Even though it is only the two of us, I got the smaller one. I should have gotten the bigger one.
Oh, it's so easy. Basic parm risotto: Saute half an onion, diced, in a little butter, toast the arborio rice, pour a splash of white wine and scrape bits off bottom, add chicken broth (1:2 ratio), set for 7 minutes, natural release for 10 minutes. Voila! Stir in a bit of parmesan cheese and salt/pepper to taste.

OMG those sucker are expensive. I went to the Mall on Saturday to see if there were any sales, nope, perhaps a mere 15% off. Even online there seems to be no deals. I am not paying $200+ for any small appliance, well sure for my Kitchen aid mixer, but that gets a lot of use!
