The huge tree in my backyard came down on my roof about 3 this morning. Scared the heck out of us. It's hard to tell if there's a lot of damage until the sun comes up. Stay safe in this crazy weather all!

Me too! Luckily I think it missed the pool we just put in last summer. I hope it all looks ok in the sunshine.

Morning.

I feel like I just went to sleep a little bit ago when I woke up.

Sore throat, too.

So, remember how I was talking about Aaron digging himself a hole at school?

Well, he was able to get into an online class, and if he works his butt off, he should be able to graduate.

He has until March 10th to finish this class on top of his regular school work and 2 senior projects for the rest of the year.

Is he suitably scared and motivated to get it done?

He says he is.

He started the online course last night and has been working on everything else, already.

Here's the thing, all 6 of his other classes, he ended the semester with 90s. This semester, all 7 classes are in the 90s.

It's just that 1 semester in that 1 required class.

Rain again. Ugh. Last night was a horrible commute with heavy winds and rain. But at least it isn't ice and snow.

Everyone try to have a good day!

Sorry about the tree! A month or so after my parents' sold their house in Lake Arrowhead, they decide to "take a drive" and see how it looked. There was yellow tape all around and the new owners were there. As well as a yuge pine tree in the middle of their kitchen.

Yay for Aaron! I hope it works out!

Tiny Dancer ~
Sorry about your roof. Hopefully there was just cosmetic damage.
If you have a shingle roof, and the insurance company wants to
patch it, ask them how they are going to match the existing color.
If they go for a match today, how will it look once it has weathered
for 5-6 years? Yeah, it will fade at a different rate than your existing
shingles. When our sycamore came down in '90, our insurance co.
did an entire new roof, because it damaged the ridge line (peak of
the roof), as well 3 windows and about 100 square feet of shingles.

LOL - YUGE!

Love it!

TD, sorry about your roof, sure hope there is minimal damage. I bet that scared the crap out of everyone. Not funny either.

IKWTDS, Trudy and TD, stay safe in that storm!

Good morning FWM, FNW, Momala, Lenni, LL and Lily!

Our forecast snow event has begun. School is canceled already. Expecting 8 - 12 inches and possibly up to 18 inches of snow today. The wind is rising already as well. Oh boy..

Glad I am home today. ;)

Good morning, everyone! Stay safe those who are in the path of all that snow. Here where I am we've had nothing but rain this winter. All total, in two events, we've had maybe three inches of snow. It's been the weirdest winter I can remember with much warmer temps than normal and no snow.

I have a bit of running around to do today and really don't want to. But, it must get done. I have to work tonight at 5 at the PT job. Other than that, I'm being lazy! hahaha

Our customer service person is out sick for the second day. Which means I have to cover since no one else knows anything about the job. I don't begrudge her, she hardly ever misses work. But it ticks me off that everyone just expects me to cover when someone is out but there isn't anyone to cover for ME when I'm out. I'm just being bitchy today.

Morning all. Still have some leftover weather from yesterday. Damp and rainy this morning with the wet stuff clearing out for the afternoon but the clouds will remain. Tomorrow is supposed to be in the low 50s and sunny!

Worked yesterday in all that miserable weather so I am off today. Schoolwork and laundry today.

Trying to decide if I want to cook dinner or take advantage of taco Tuesday.

And our auditors are here. I have a list of 26 files to pull and copy for them. And the controller just came with more. Plus, the sales reps are at a customer visit. Which means *I* am the only person in the sales department here today to handle and questions and/or issues.

Can you have the new admin make the copies at least?

The one that was 60 pages, I had her do. But the rest of them you have to sort through the file and pull out what they want to see and  make copies. It's not worth the time to teach her what she's looking at and what the auditors are looking for.

...and we have 6 inches of snow. Still coming down fast and furiously.

It is a total whiteout out there.

DG, do what you can. They either wait or can do it themselves. I think they expect way to much from you though.

Lindley, enjoy those girls!

FS, enjoy the lazy part of your day. (wish I had a lazy part) lol

Hi jlbear!

DE, good luck! You will rock this.

Trudy, lets have a beer tonight. I am in need of a red one.

IKWTDS, I'll take snow over your ice any day of the week. I hate ice.

Marathon day working. WOW did I get a lot done! It's the last week of the month and typically quiet but the Gov't awarded a ton of contracts just at the end of the year so I have budgets to baseline and contractual issues to deal with. I think I am done for the day, pretty much burnt out. Think I will start a fire in the fireplace, I am NOT Madonna.

Why are people so stupid? You don't get to just call a third member of a company "defunct" and say they no longer have an interest because you want to. You actually need something signed by that person releasing their interest in the company.

How is a person defunct?

That is super weird.

So sorry about the weather you all are having .... it's been sunny here. Cold, but sunny. Some of the areas that don't get a lot of sun do freeze over night though. One of my coworkers fell while walking her dog early in the morning. Sprained her ankle - could have been so much worse. She's in her 60s!

That is awful, bones don't repair quickly when in your 60's.  She will heal, just will take time.

AND, while I'm thinking about it ....

DG, it's not fair, the amount of workload they dump on you. If you're doing everyone else's work, how do you do your own?

When I used to get stuck in this position I would make a list of everything that they'd asked (my own job, their job, customer service, preparing for audit, and on and on and on) and then ask them what their priorities were so that the most important thing could get done. Also, I would ask them what their timeline was on big projects or other people's work, then I could say 'well, you have also requested these 2 things within that timeline ... how would you like to prioritize so that we can change the dates on the others?'

My job is daily support of the president. He knows that I was covering in sales/customer service and he hasn't given me much yesterday or today. He's pretty good at not totally overloading me (unlike the last president). When the controller brought me a new list of stuff the auditors, I asked him, "where does this go in the order"

i don't disagree I get dumped on. But I'm getting better at standing up for my time. And more people are recognizing all the stuff I do. Heck, I even got a thank you from the surly accounting manager when I gave him his requested stack of papers.
