So it seems that FB has an algorithm in their SW that causes things you don't want to see show up on your feed. If a FB friend posts a "article" and you "like" it, that site will post on your feed. It is awful. I can "like" anyone's posts anymore if they are a shared thread from a website. Why does FB want this to be the way?

I think if you "like" the comment instead of "like the page" it won't happen. When someone shares someone with me there are two different places you can like. I'm not sure if you've seen that.
When someone "likes" a page, there are times when it shows up on my feed. So and so "liked" this, then it shows what they liked below. I'm not sure if when I "like" something it shows up on others feed, too. Is that what you're saying?

Maybe that is what is going on. A "friend" likes a page and that site is able to access their friends accounts? It's very annoying.

I have noticed I get posts from random pages. When I go to the page it shows I have liked and followed the page. I unlike it go about my day. No clue how it happens, but I'm not overly bothered by it.
What I've noticed is if you click a video, as an example, someone has liked, you get a whole batch of videos after it.
In that batch, is all kinds of things and if you scroll through, they generally play automatically.
Then when I go back to my feed, a lot of what was in that batch will appear as "things you might like".
