I am partial to big dogs. I love goldens because they are sweet, loving, smart, loyal, protective when need be, easily trained and beautiful. Our next dog is going to be a great pyrenees because they embody all those traits as well.

Not a fan of dogs, but if I had to chose, I would chose smaller dogs. I had a ****apoo and a ****zu and they were nice. Natalie's boyfriend was a silkie and he was sweet.
The smallest dog I ever had was a five pound chihuahua and the largest was a 120 pound mastiff/rottie mix. They used to cuddle together it was soooo cute

Springer spaniels. The are beautiful but very high maintenance. I love them because that's what we had growing up. Three different ones and boy did they have a place in my heart. They still do.

I've had mutts, strays, AKA registered, rescued, store bought.
All kinds.
I've loved each of them.
But my poodle babies.
If I ever get another dog, it'll be another poodle.

I love dogs. I really do. But I can't walk them as much
as they need, and I hate people who just open their door
and let the dog out, to roam wherever they want, or get
hit in traffic. I'm happy to "dog-sit" my friends' furbabies,
but I couldn't take proper care of a dog.
Cats, on the other hand, practically take care of themselves,
and don't need to leave the house. That's why I can have
my 23 y/o tabby.

I don't know how many of these dogs I've taken to the pound momala. At least, the ones who are too lazy to even collar their dogs. Most of the dogs I've ever owned have been dog aggressive and that's the last thing I need is to be walking them and have some loose dog stroll up. Not to mention it's the law here to keep your dog contained.

I love the pyrenese, but good googly moogly, do they shed.

If I could take care of a dog, I'd take a Pomeranian.
They look like a red Samoyed, and are the perfect
size to be a lap dog. And they typically love to be
groomed.

I love Monster, but I won't ever have another pom.
He needs daily grooming, is very vocal, and has a high chance of alopecia, asthma, and can be snippy, especially if he is feeling stressed.
And he sheds, poms have 2 coats, the under coat is thick and protective, the outer coat is course and long.
Their closet relative is the husky, and like the husky, they "talk".
Monster is a very picky eater, too.

I was going to add, when Monster molts, his undercoat comes out in cotton ball size tufts.
It's like gremlins all over everything.
I vacuum daily.

I have a minigolden doodle. She's a cutie! I really like her temperament. She isn't "annoying" like some other dogs i have had. She doesn't bark a lot. She doesn't shed. So far , she has been far easy to train than some of my other dogs. My last dog was hysterical whenever there were squirrels in my yard, which was all the time. Nice to have a calmer dog. And, I have trained her to be off leash and she can come out in the yard and stay in the yard with me while i do yard work, etc.
I really like the size of my dog, he is 24 lbs. He was a stray in CA, ended up here in our no-kill shelters. He looks like a blond lab pup somewhat with a curly tail. He is approaching 6 and so I am looking into changing his food to a no grain high protein diet. The food is more expensive but need less of it so it won't cost more, plus it will keep him healthy. knock on wood, I have had no high vet bills.

My dog has short hair and does shed. I hate that! But he is not a barker. Sometimes he barks when inside the house when an "enemy" walks by, never barks outside.

When he was a pup, he never went outside off leash.
Then we would put him on a longer leash for time outside.
It was 50 feet long, he could wander but couldn't leave the yard.
After a few months, he was going out on his own.
He still wont leave the yard.

We currently have a Beagle. IMHO, an extremely kid friendly breed. But he is a bit of a nut, lol. I also grew up with a Beagle.
On the farm, we always had German Shepard's, well, two. Great work dogs and guard dogs. One was exceptionally good with the kids. She died of old age out there with us.

I grew up with beagles. Parents bought a pedigreed female; had
her for two years before we found a kennel where we could have
her bred; the sire was an AKC Champion; we had six of the most
beautiful pups you could imagine. This was back in the early 50's -
they sold for more than $1K EACH! We kept the one female pup and
loved her forever I could dress her up in doll clothes and wheel her
around in my almost full size baby carriage - she loved it! Beagles
know when their owners are not well, and will lean against an owner
in the throes of an asthma attack - helping the owner to relax.
At my last house, I was surrounded by dachshunds, my neighbors all had them. Nothing quite as annoying as having a dog continually run into your yard and bark at you incessantly while you are on your own porch.

So many breeds I like. I'm a big fan of corgis obviously. They are super smart and loyal. And mine is pretty laid back. He rarely barks unless he sees another dog....or the door bell rings.
Growing up we had Dalmatians. I really like them, but they aren't for everyone. And a lot of them aren't good with kids. Plus, there was some careless breeding about 25 years ago, so many are prone to health problems.
I have a soft spot for bulldogs. So squishy and lovable.
There are many many breeds I like. Not sure what my next dog will be. I've always thought I would stick with corgis, but I don't know how I will handle that it's not Corgi. I'll cross that bridge when I come to it I guess.
