While I look at the members only section from time to time, I seldom post on it. However, if the need arises in the future and I think I would like to post on it for responses of members only, does this mean I am out? Or have to apply for permission to post? Just wondering....

Some have admitted on other boards that they have an account here and have never posted. They like to read the Break Room to get dirt. They actually admitted that. A bit pathetic to me, but I consider the source...

Rule update -

= New members have 2 weeks to post their first post and 60 days to try out the board and decide if they are going to continue post. If they do not post at all, they will be deleted after 2 weeks. If they post a hello but thereafter have made no meaningful contribution during that time, they will be deleted. Furthermore, if you have not posted in over a year, you may be deleted. This is totally a discretionally matter and "meaningful" will be solely in my discretion. This rule is to prevent the joining simply to troll or to glean information from the members only section, or to spam members.

I saw where a poster banned from here shared break room information on another board, months after that posters had been banned from here.

That seems fair. However, i know there is a lag for new members actually signing up to join and then actually being accepted and able to access the board. How does that person actually know when they are able to start posting?

They should get notification.

Here's what happens. They sign up. Sparklit makes them verify their account. Then Sparklit sends me an email. There usually is a lag time, especially on the weekends when I'm not checking my email often.

Hahahaha! Which email service actually tried that a few years ago - was it Gmail? Anyone else remember? During late hours of the night/wee hours of the morning, if you wanted to send an email they made you go through sort of a puzzle to assure you weren't drunk emailing...

Honestly LL... that would be the best way to ensure only true geeks are able to get into our deepest darkest secrets. Like I said, it wound up working well for another board I was on.

So, what post count do you think works best? Ideas? I'm thinking 100. Not too restrictive, but enough that you can't just join to get to the members only section when you want to.
