So we LUCKILY ran into a wedding planner lady when we were down in AZ checking out the wedding spot over Christmas. She has been a ton of help. The problem is, we don't know how much to pay her. She told us she doesn't get "paid" but just works on gratuity.

I've been trying to google how much a wedding planner costs but the ranges are huge. We are having a very small wedding, only 18 people and it's pretty simple. We were thinking $500? What do you guys say?

Our fee was built into the place we rented. They had one there. You got a wedding, honeymoon, and planner for a set price. I don't remember how much it was.

One of my friends does wedding planning on the side. It's a ton of work. How big is the wedding? I can ask her.

I'm a wedding planner and I've never heard of working for gratuity. I charge anywhere from $500, (day of) to $3000 (all in).

She basically will be setting up the room. Tables, decorations and picture booth.

Well we met her over Christmas and have been emailing, so she's definitely helped with setting up the room, as far as the cake and tuxes though we've been handling that stuff. She offered but DF wanted to go with someone specific for tuxes.

I agree...hell, a token GC would be appreciated from some of the weddings I do for free...
