Dean McDermott is about to welcome his sixth child in the world, courtesy of Tori Spelling, and he was certainly eager to celebrate this momentous occasion.

But a February 11 baby shower for him and Tori apparently was too over-the-top, both in its execution and in its public display of excess, according to the Daily Mail.

That’s because tabloid reports of the lavish event set off Dean’s ex-wife Mary Jo Eustace. And now, Mary Jo has gone to court, alleging that Dean is thousands of dollars behind in paying child support for Jack, the first of his five biological kids.

The baby shower, held in the main restaurant of the posh Bel-Air Hotel, was hosted by Tori’s mother, Candy, the widow of the late mega-rich TV producer Aaron Spelling. It’s estimated that the party easily cost $40,000, and now Mary Jo is taking Dean to court March 9 to face allegations that he is in contempt of court for failure to pay monthly child support payments for Jack, who is now 18.

Dean and Mary Jo, also an actress, married in 1993, and they had Jack in 1998. They had also begun to adopt a baby girl, Lola.

But in July 2005, Dean began filming the Lifetime movie “Mind Over Murder.” His co-star was Tori Spelling, the former “Beverly Hills 90210” star and daughter of “Dynasty” and “Love Boat” producer Aaron Spelling.

The night Dean and Tori met, they began an affair, various accounts say.

During his divorce from Mary Jo, Dean was granted joint custody of Jack, but opted to not have any kind of role in raising Lola, who would have been his seventh child.

Dean and Tori married in 2006 and have four children together, with their fifth, a son, expected next month.

For much of their marriage, Dean and Tori have made various claims that they are struggling financially as they have tried to forge careers together and separately as reality stars and with other TV projects.

Things apparently started to get rough for the couple after Aaron Spelling died in 2008 and only left Tori $750,000 of his $600 million fortune. In recent years, the couple have made news less for their TV projects and more for continuing a high-end life-style amid their mounting debts.

In 2014, Tori claimed they were living paycheck-to-pay check. They were also hit with a $259,108 lien for unpaid taxes; in November they were sued by American Express for a $87,595 credit card debt.

Recently, Candy, 71, admitted that she has been footing the bill for the McDermott family, paying rent on their Woodland Hills home, the kids’ private school tuition, and food, the Daily Mail reported.

Candy, who has had ups and downs in her relationship with her daughter, wanted to make sure she and her son-in-law had a nice shower to celebrate their new baby.

“Candy is obviously excited about this new addition to the family and made sure Tori had a very special day,” a source told the Daily Mail.

In sparing no expense for the luncheon for 50, Candy hired an event planner to oversee the menu and décor. Guests enjoyed tortilla soup and tarragon chicken salad and lemonade in a blue bottle that was creatively wrapped with a cloth and diaper pin.

A sea of blue balloons covered the ceiling, and toy trains on tracks circled in front of each table setting. Candy remarked on her Instagram account, “I especially loved the trains on the table! #choochoo!”

Yes, no wonder Mary Jo was irked.
