We have visitors today. VP makes a big deal about visitors. Everything must be just so, she even mentioned to her clerk to dress up (we are rather causal here, most people wear jeans every day). I'm sure VP trying not to twitch in the meeting looking at the president wearing jeans lol
I just went through my linen closet last night. I dropped off 2 big boxes of towels, 3 sets of twin sheets, along with 5 blankets at the donation station we have at work today. All going to a homeless shelter we partner with. It's for a good cause and my closet is no longer overstuffed. Happy Thursday all!

My admin is annoyed with me again. I am again amused.
I told her to order lunch for tomorrow's staff meeting. We get 2 trays from Subway, always the same, every two weeks. Today she comes in all proud of herself, she had them add a couple of salads "incase someone wants a salad instead, some people are dieting". First of all, we already have too much food based on the number of people invited and how many the trays feed, we don't need more. Second, I am NOT setting the precedent that I will cater to everyone's whims. They know what we are having for lunch, if it doesn't fit in their diet, they are welcome to bring their own lunch.
She's peeved because I had her cancel the salads. Oh well. Maybe do what I told you to.

Sigh, I may need to buy a new furnace. My furnace is fine but should be re piped, problem is the piping costs 2200 but a new furnace that comes with piping is 5600, and my furnace is at least 15 years old. I am told that 20 years is the average life of a furnace. Anyone in the know about that?

But if your furnace is close to 20 years old, it would make the most sense to replace everything at once.

Our furnaces are 20, going on 21, Lexxy. The warmer the climate, the longer they seem to last.
We replaced the A/C last July. Our guy told us, the furnaces looked fine. Just run with them.
You live in a pretty mild area. I would go with the piping. The furnace itself, could last another ten years.
(But, this is your decision. Go with whatever you feel comfortable with.)

The thing is I have a gut feeling the technician was upselling me. So I am calling another company tomorrow to come out and give me and estimate. BTW, the one yesterday called me with the estimate, did not email it to me, although he told me he asked for the email so he could send me the estimate. I just sent them and email requesting a detailed estimate. My furnace every single year during my annual tune up gets a glowing report. His advice to me is not sitting well.

Today's tale from the small town: I was getting Boss Man's oil changed in his car. The following conversation took place...
Mechanic: I'm probably going to get kicked in the shin for this, but where do I know you from?
Me: well, I'm {insert DG's dad's name}'s daughter, does that help?
Mechanic:YES! That's is
Other Mechanic: he's the one with the diesel Cruz!
Me: yep, that's him

Remember, last July, when my A/C started struggling?
The first estimate was $32,000. They told me I needed the whole works. The lower end units would have cost around ??? I can't remember. $20,000?
I ran like the wind.
All we needed was new A/C. And we got away with $7,300, for both units.
Get another opinion. And get a third, if you think you are being taken to the cleaners.
(Ask friends and family for recommendations on honest Heating/A/C guys.)
If your furnace has always gotten a glowing report...and they want to sell you a new one? I smell a rat!

Get more estimates, Lexxy.
Good luck!
Oh I am so doing this. Ironically, if it gets too hot I can turn off the furnace because the A/c the same company installed last summer also has a heat setting. Thanks FWM!

Oh dang! I thought is was Lexxy asking about the furnace.
My bad! (Darn cats use me as the door man. I lost track of who needed a new furnace.)
I'm so embarrassed.
Back to your question...if you're still speaking to me.
Get another opinion. And a third opinion, if the first two are way off.
And ask friends and family, for good Heating/A/C guys.
Even up North, and by North, I mean, Ohio. A furnace would last 25 or 30 years. No problem.
