 Teachers salaries tend to be mandated - ours have no discretion what to pay.  You have this level of degree and this many years - you get this.

What is the purpose of it?

Is it an attempt to show how important women are?

Our tax dollars are paying the salary of these teachers. In Boston, the Mayor has said he supports this and doesn't mind if any state/city workers want to attend the Boston rally. Umm they better be taking PTO and not expecting not to have to. These are our tax dollars! Our kids' education!

I asked DD if she feels she is missing some rights. She doesnt feel oppressed. I make as much as the men in my profession. I have pretty much done whatever i darn well pleased to do all of my life. Dd feels like she can do or be whatever she chooses.

Why don't they go out and protest real women issues like sex trafficking and putting their energy into organizations that helps young runaway girls out of prostitution? This is just a continuous rage against Trump winning the presidency.

 Amen to that!  There are battered and abused women who need help, children who need adopting, young girls recovering from being trafficking victims.  How about focusing on educating some of these poor refugee women that they have rights and don't have to be victims of their fathers and husbands.

 A much higher percentage of men go into higher demand, higher paying fields, like engineering.  That is a choice.  While more women choose teaching and social work and service jobs  The gap they are talking about is not for the SAME job, it's for all jobs across the board.  But if women CHOOSE to go into lower paying fields, how is that discrimination?  Isn't feminism all about choice?  

There are not as many qualified engineers in the market - so they make more money.
