I actually like Bill Maher. I just ignore the things he's completely and utterly clueless or wrong about. Granted, that only leaves about half of his whole repertoire, but the half that's left is pretty good!
There are still plenty of women who don't work. I know a lot of them. For example, FWM. Never worked outside the home and I still respect her. I'd rather a woman live off her husband than live off the government.

And that is great if you and your family can afford to do that and you are happy with your place in life. Many families either don't have that financial option or the parents both value their chosen professional fields. And that is fine too. Single parents don't typically have the choice of being SAHM or D. And that is fine too. What not is fine is women that chose their lifestyle are now protesting over the reality of their choices. That is not fine.

That's all well and good if that choice works for your family. But if your family struggles because you don't work, or you need public assistance because you are choosing not to work - that's not ok.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.
Let me step on Mary, I think her point is you posted not long ago you were fired. Now if you are saying you love your line of business, then OK, but if you don't have a job, don't say you love your's. I am not trying to offend you, Flan. Also I have to say, I have so much gratitude toward out librarians and the outreach. Did you find a new job yet? Are there sub type of jobs you can take?

I will say, I don't Love my job, I do like it, told my boss I want to move on to other experiences, I plan on working for another 10 years and need to build up my rep in this company to do so. I can suck it up so I can have a comfortable retirement. Then when I do retire I can contract back to them for some extra income.

Gotcha. Thanks.
I finally picked up my stuff the day before we left. The van is packed full.
When we get back, I am going to take a 30-minute required online training & start subbing at parochial schools. I'm ready.

That is great! I am so glad you still have the passion for your industry and what you are obviously good at. It is such a godsend to many children when people have that passion to teach them.

I have to tell you what one teacher said. She is an amazing woman, teaches pre-K.
I applied for a job last summer (full-time) and asked her to write me a letter of recommendation. She emailed it to me & I burst into tears when I read that for flan, being a children's librarian was not a career, it was a calling.
Change of subject but I've really been craving Hawaii lately My BFF and I wanted to go this past September. Her Deceased grand dad who shared the same BD with my dad wAs a Pearl Harbor vet. We wanted to go around their heavenly birthdays but then I went and planned a wedding and her life got a bit crazy. Maybe we can all go next year now.

Mary, I believe you will find all the other Islands enchanting. Flan is right they all have their charm. I hope to go to Maui some day.
On a side note my husband and I met our DIL on Oahu. She was our waitress and we thought she was so sweet and pretty. Dh commented that finding a decent guy to date that had the same values as her was very hard. Of course I told her about our son. My husband called my son and told him that we met his future wife. Of course he was horrified and found her on Facebook and sent her a message to forgive his parents and said something funny. After that they kept emailing each other and after awhile he flew out to meet her and the rest is history.
