I think Pence is using common sense. We had two people worked for us who was married to other people and ended up having a affair with each other. They got close while working with each other and obviously they got to close. Both of them ended up in divorce. I was talking to a friend who works in a school where two parents ended up in a affair with each other. Started innocently enough when they got to know each other while watching their kids play after school while waiting for a older child who was in a club.
Basic biology means that there will often be attraction between men and women who spend a lot of time in close proximity. Political correctness doesn't change that.

Right? Like it's unheard of that co-workers have affairs...

How many times a day can you mention that?
It's gotten funny, actually.
Oh, and we were NEVER alone. There were always staff & patrons around.

I actually wasn't talking about you, I was talking in general, but hey, if you want to take it that way...
So, when you were sleeping with your then BF, there were staff and patrons around? EWWW!
I call shenanigans...

MY POINT is that a man and woman don't HAVE to be ALONE together to fall in love.
flan
But, there came a point when you weren't alone. And if you had never BEEN left alone, then you wouldn't have consummated the relationship. And I don't believe for one minute that you fell in love while all those people were hanging around.

What a surprise!
Ohfour called me a liar again. He was my boss, we became friends very gradually. During those years, I was a single parent, I was a librarian, but nothing else. There was no time.
And just because it didn't happen that way to YOU doesn't mean it didn't happen that way to ME.
How can you say you agree it's his choice then turn around and say what he should do?.

It's the difference between "should" and "must". You do know the difference between the two, right? I'm not saying he has to do anything. He should treat women and men equally. He's free to be a complete ass that believes that women don't deserve equality if he wants to, or he can be a gentleman that sees women as equals to men. Freedom to choose.
You cannot be serious. First of all, males tend to bond with males and vice versa. They socialize more - golf, etc. Women do it, too. I spend much more time with female co-workers because we have more in common. People are allowed to socialize and choose FRIENDS they want to dine with all they want.

Agreed. People are allowed to socialize and choose their friends. Public servants are not allowed to choose who they will work with based on sex though. And as long as he keeps socializing to exactly that, and limits this segregation by gender to only non-work, then it's perfectly acceptable. Problem is he's already proven that he won't do that.

Obviously it's YOU who doesn't know the difference between "should" and "must". Who the flip cares what YOU think Pence "should" or "must" do in his own freaking marriage. I and many others consider him a gentleman for doing exactly what he's doing and your opinion is just that, an opinion.

So public servants give up all rights to their private lives? Do you think anyone would ever run for office if that was really true? Please cite some law or precedent that corroborates this ridiculous argument.

Can no one see how this benefits the woman, just as much, as Pence?
It protects HER as well.
She doesn't get the rumors either.

The horror is the fact that even though there is absolutely nothing going on between them She or someone who sees them together can say or insinuate anything they want to. It has and will continue to happen. He is protecting himself from those (like you) who always want to believe the worst about someone THEY don't like.

Well, so far, no women has come forward and claimed she was denied equal access and equal treatment. So there's that.
EXACTLY. So it's a non-issue. He's been a public servant for YEARS. It hasn't been an issue until the lib got their panties in a wad because he's taking the moral high ground.

I'm going to venture a guess here but it seems to me the women who have not been faithful, in their or someone else's marriage, are the ones who are screaming this is not fair that Pence has made a decision to NOT dine with a woman alone in a restaurant for the sake of his career, which hasn't been hurt at all by this, and for his marriage.
I do what's best for MY marriage as does VP Pence obviously. If this wouldn't work for YOUR marriage then don't do it but don't expect everyone else to do what you do. Some people don't honor theirs or anyone else marriage so it makes them feel better to whine when some one does.

Yep. And seem to be comfortable with hazy boundaries.

Wrong again.
MM3 has plenty of people who question his decision, as does that board you left.

Proving the point. The most immoral people I've even come across.

Regardless whether he dines alone with a female or not is a non issue. As vice President he will most likely never be dining alone with anyone.
I can guess that those talking about it on other boards are only making a big deal about it because they don't like him because he is republican.

I was responding to FS's dig.
Everyone on BOTH the boards in question fits her "theory?"
Regardless, he was only talking about himself and his marriage. He wasn't saying nobody else should do it either he was only talking about himself. This shouldn't even be a issue.
