ideas for Easter treats

I volunteered to make Easter treats for Church this weekend.

It has to be something that won't melt and doesn't need refrigeration. The food, from what I know, is going to be set up in a tent on the lawn.

Thinking of doing something with my mini-muffin pan so people can grab and go. I can easily do mini Easter cakes and pipe a chocolate cross on them. I don't anticipate it being hot enough to make the chocolate runny. The chocolate might get soft but I don't think that'd be a problem. I can also put them in the fridge overnight to help the chocolate hold up longer.

Ideally, would be something fairly cheap so I could make a couple hundred or so since we'll probably have at least 2000 people attending services this weekend. I'm not the only one making treats and I know not everyone will grab one of everything so I figure a couple hundred or so will suffice.

Any ideas?

I'm kicking around that idea too. I saw a recipe with Reese's pb cups mixed in but I'm sure Reese's Pieces would work. Could do some M&Ms and some RPs.

Any other small candy that would work?

Growing up, my mom used to take those Brach's Marshmallow eggs and turn them into race cars. Using Smarties as the wheels and neck, a jelly bean as the head, a snow cap as a hat and royal icing to hold it all together and put a car number on the side. I have no pictures but they were well sought after treats.

Or you could do rice crispy treats in the mini-muffin pan, press the center down and use it like a birds nest with a few robins egg candies in it.

Rice Krispy treats are an excellent idea.

M&Ms in some, skittles in others.

Hot cross buns

Fruit cups

Cookies

Brownies

 Would the candies stay put?

They would with a little buttercream glue.

Actually, someone at work brought these that were made with different flavored marshellows. It never dawned on me how the different flavors would make the treats SO DAD GUM YUMMY!

Can you imagine rice krispy treats made with cinnobun flavored marshmellows?!!!  :swoon:

LL gave me an idea for a previous treat I needed to
make. Bag of small, square pretzels, bag of Rolos.
Put the pretzels on a sheet pan lined with parchment.
Put an unwrapped Rolo on each pretzel. Bake in a
350 oven for 10-12 minutes - watch carefully!
Take out, and cool on a wire rack. Simple, and oh
so delicious. They were well enjoyed!

The pretzels are called "pretzel waffles"

Those Nutter Butter chicks are cute! I'm checking around to see if I can find a big enough package of Nutter Butters.

I really like the Rice Krispies idea. Found mini robin's eggs that would look cute in them if I made them into nests.

So. Many. Ideas! I wish I could make them all!

Have you seen the easter snack mix?

Bunny bait.
Ingredients

1 bag salted popped popcorn, non buttered
2 cups Chex cereal
1 cup small pretzel sticks
1 cup peanuts
1 cup Easter Milk Chocolate M&M's
1/4 cup Easter sprinkles
1-16oz bag Bright White Wilton Candy Melts
Instructions

Line a baking sheet with a piece of parchment paper.
Remove any popcorn kernels and spread your popcorn out onto your baking sheet.
Add your Chex and pretzels to you popcorn.
Heat your candy melts in a microwave safe dish on 50% power for 2-3 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds until melted.
Pour your melted white chocolate evenly over your popcorn mixture and mix gently with a spoon.
Add your peanuts, sprinkles, and M&M's and gently mix again.
Let harden for about 20 minutes & break apart.
ENJOY!

It'd be easy, and you can make a bunch.

After lots of thought and trying to make guesses at to what others will be bringing, I have decided to go with mini quiches in wonton wrappers. I anticipate a lot of dessert type treats and figured I'd go another direction.

I'm fighting the overachiever in me too. I really really really want to make those Nutter Butter chicks. I keep reminding myself that some people have peanut allergies and they may not know peanut butter lurks under that candy coating. I also want to make the Rice Krispy treats and the bird's nest and the Easter mix and EVERYTHING!

Make some of the other stuff just for your house.

Homemade basket treats are the best.

Not a good idea. DH is diabetic and has been a very naughty boy lately so his sweets intake is very, very limited.

DS would scarf them down but doesn't need that many sweets.
