Keurig coffee makers.

Thoughts?  I never considered one because DH & I both drink, and he grinds the beans (and leaves the mess on the kitchen counter) and gets the pot set up at night.  But we had one in our townhouse last week and I fell in love....mess-free, fast, convenient.   I see some where they give the option of filling travel mugs (which we both might use on days we go in to the office) or even a carafe.....and reusable filters so we could use up the existing beans before purchasing the little k-cups...

Does anyone have one?

FNW, I just have a little ole plain Keurig - Dad bought it for me for Christmas a couple of years ago.  All I can say is I LOVE IT!  You won't be sorry... I can't say if one brand is better than another, though.

My son has one.

It works well for him since his wife isn't a coffee drinker, and he's a one cup in the morning kind of guy.

If you drink a lot of coffee, is can get pretty expensive.

They are nice, as long as you don't mind the extra expense.

The reusable cups are great, so you can still have fresh ground coffee and the k cups are great too.

We actually used the single cup more than once and the coffee tasted just fine.  DH likes it a little stronger, but said the second cup tasted good to him.

Should have mentioned regarding expense (and I totally agree with FWM on that):  I have the refillable K-cups and just buy my coffee at Winco.  I'm so used to just rinsing out the K-cup after use that there's no bother factor.  Plus, I've read that the prefilled K-cups expose you to more chemicals (from during the manufacturing/filling process) than just using the refillable ones.

And NOW thanks to FNW, I looked on Amazon and suddenly I "need" a new Keurig - red to match my kitchen!  biggrin

We don't drink coffee but would only consider it if the refillable cups were used. The world doesn't more plastic, single use garbage.

My Keurig hates me. Everyone else can use it fine. And they have WATCHED me use it and do the same thing they do. But my coffee is like water. :(

We have one that does both single cup or pot.

Can do both at one time.

The single use thing is very rarely used.

The chemical thing now bothers me. If I have to grind and fill the little cup, it's no more convenient than my regular pot.

I have a 4 cup Mr Coffee. And, it works fine for me. DH doesn't drink coffee. I personally don't care for the taste of Kuerig coffee. I will use one if at a hotel, etc. But, i think the dripped coffee of the Mr Coffee, etc tastes better. Just my opinion. And, it's like $80 cheaper.

I love my Ninja Coffee brewer. It brew a cup, travel mug, half pot or whole pot. Classic or strong and even speciAlty drinks. No pods so I skip the landfill waste.

I disposed of my Kuerig.

I looked at the water tube after 4 years of use..

I will not be buying a new one.

They are convenient. But they will never beat good fresh coffee, ground and brewed in a french press.

For LGS and others who have a glass carafe ~

To keep the glass clean and sparkly - use
DENTURE CLEANSER! Yep. Buy the less expensive
store brand of denture cleanser tablets. Fill the
carafe with hottest tap water, drop in two tablets,
wait ten minutes, then drain, rinse, and dry. No
more brown rings.

Note: Do not use this method to clean the actual
brewing part of the coffee maker - use vinegar for
that!

I do the vinegar thing every month or so.  I do it twice and then a third time with plain water.

Try Nespresso. It's better than Keurig. The pods are a little more expensive but they're worth it. The Nespresso makes coffee 10x better than my Keurig. If you can find a boutique they let you taste the coffee from the different models before you buy.

I have a keurig. You do have to keep it cleaned and filled with distilled water to make it last longer.

I thought about buying a Keurig. Then I did a little research on them. You couldn't pay me to own one now. It's much better to just go with a French Press, if you want the best coffee. Easy to use, easy to clean, extremely reliable (since it doesn't have any pumping or heating parts), and no K-cups filling the land fills.

I like my nice little Mr. Coffee. Keurig coffee taste like watery plastic to me. I don't know if it's the little K cups or the machine itself but I prefer the Mr. Coffee.

That is what we have and I love the convenience of it in the morning before work. (We brew a pot on the weekends when I have time to relax and enjoy more then one cup). The coffee is good too.

I used the one we have when my coffee maker broke. Not as hot as I like. And those k cups aren't cheap.

It is extremely convenient and easy... but not cost effective.
