Their children are an extension of themselves and their ego. I'm sure the daughter is heartbroken now but ultimately she's lucky he is out of her life even though it probably doesn't seem like that now.

Oh, boo f'ing hoo. Not easy. Life is not easy. You do what you have to for the people you love. If you won't, you don't love them as much as whatever it is you won't give up.

This is reminding me of one of my favorite quotes:
"In life you have to do a lot of things you don't ****ing want to do. Many times, that's what the **** life is... one vile ****ing task after another." Al Swearengen - Deadwood.
eta: looks like it bleeped out my f words. lol.

My brain filled them in.
I agree totally. Do you think the men that worked coal mines to support their families had it EASY. When you become a parent, it's not about doing the EASY thing, it's about doing the RIGHT thing. And if doing the right thing were easy, everyone would do it and the world would be perfect.

The guilt may have gotten to Hernandez. I mean, what if he was guilty of those murders and acquitted? That means he wouldn't face punishment for those deaths. If he had a conscience, he could have felt guilty and remorseful, and not punished.

The thing is, now that he is dead, his estate goes to his daughter. It is no longer his. I think the lawyers all know this and are trying to get payment somewhere. My bet is he set up some sort of trust so in death she would get it and there would be no estate to sue.

If the murder conviction is vacated, the Patriots owe Hernandez $6M and the mother of the victim wants the Pats to turn that money over to her directly. Yep, they really must be concerned the estate will not be available to them to get their hands on.

I hear people say "oh but it's hard" all the time for all kinds of things. People have no grit or discipline anymore. Yeah, many things in life are "hard". So, strap on your big girl or big boy pants and get busy.

I just LOVE your sweeping generalizations.
On this thread alone, people have said, "Just quit," like it's the same as ordering a pizza.

I feel for her, but I dont think that's gonna happen.

I feel for her too. I do think her lawyer is steering her wrong. My employer could not legally send my last pay check to someone's family I committed a crime against.

Who is more entitled to the money, his daughter or the victim's family?
The daughter as along as his "fiance" gets zip.
The fiance will have access to the money. SHe can claim to be spending it on the child. Nobody is really watching that closely. Or, she will just wait it out till the kid is 18 if it is in a trust fund or something.
I wouldnt have a problem with them compensating the victims with a percentage. He destroyed their lives.
But who is "them"? The Patriots? They give Hernandez's money to anyone but his estate. The courts? Well depending how Hernandez left his estate, it may not be up for grabs.

You can't just "compensate" the victims. They need a judgment in court to get at that money. And it needs to be in his estate for that to happen - if he had beneficiaries on his account, they will get it.
And the state of Massachusetts now says he is still innocent, which makes a lawsuit against a dead man much harder to win.
